Honestly, if you let someone keep squandering your family finances on a hope/dream, AND they keep failing, I don't think any logical person would see anything wrong with the other person taking action to protect their family's future.

You all have this mythical concept of "love" and marriage, which lets a lot of people know you haven't seen much of either. You seriously think you can do whatever you want in a marriage, with no repercussions, and everyone is supposed to disregard their future/needs and support you.

How many times do you think you should be able to fail and be allowed to put your family in the poor house in hopes of a dream? Any one would be weary after the first time their partner put them through such.

First...all that we know is that she filed for divorce in 2000...we don't know if they were even living together at that point. Second, I'm sure he campaigned and mapped out his road to the Senate a few years before. He didn't just become a jack in the box to become Senator in 2005. Folks on here are in some degree of shock to know that the Obamas were pretty much like any other high profile political family.

And Obama didn't fail multiple times. He lost one race (correct me if I'm wrong). They weren't going to the poor house. Obama is a black man with a Harvard Law degree. There's like 200 of him on Earth. Something tells me Maliah & Sasha wouldn't have had to eat potatoes.

The fact that (according to the article) she thought he was underachieving and filed for divorce. It seems a little too coincidental that he ran for Senate a few years later and won in 2005 only to have her by his side. Given her initial impressions of Barack when they first met--she didn't seem too impressed by him.

Had he "failed miserably" a second time, it's plausable to believe that they may not have lasted.
