Tank for one year and have the whole league shook brehs :mjlol:

actually i doubt anyone is afraid of ur picks. mcw was roy of quite possibly the worst class ever. noel is coming off an acl. jojo off foot surgery. and then ya'll picked some euro that won't come over for 3 years.

there is no absolute franchise player/superstar in there. jojo has the most potential to become one but he's got very scary almost greg oden-esque injury concerns.

as of now, there is nothing about philly to fear. the issue people had is that your GM seems to have picked guys in this past years draft that won't contribute right away so that you can be in the lottery again next year and the year after that.

the league does not want to reward INTENTIONAL futility for draft picks.

Lottery reform and they are looking at the Sixers? What about Cleveland.

they just get lucky. they were not gaming the system. last year they won with the 9th worst record and in 2011 when they got Kyrie, they won the lottery with the Clippers pick which was also in the 9 range. the only year their pick won the lottery was 2013 with anthony bennet and no one cared cause no one wanted to pick first.

But how many times did the Cavs get a #1 pick in the last 11 years lol?
This is what Im saying....

People act like if you get high picks you guaranteed to be a dynasty

The majority of drafts dont have franchise players and scouts will still miss on players

Sixers got an injured big and someone that wont play for them in at least 2 years.....what did they do that got the NBA all riled up :heh:

too late, we already got a core :blessed:

no they are upset because losing on purpose should not be rewarded. if philly succeeded in this strategy, it would be TERRIBLE for the league going forward. instead of competiting, teams would stockpile the team with nbdl players just so they can get high lottery picks.

an nba in which half the league is racing to the bottom is NOT a good league. we need all our teams trying to win every game every season. if the honest losers lose, then let them get high picks. however, having a system that rewards INTENTIONAL losing is never a good idea.

philly is one of the smartest teams

okc sucked, it resulted in durant and westbrook

cleveland sucking is the reason they have one of the most stacked teams we've seen in 20 years

why would philly not do this?

because its wack. in competitive fields like sports, gaming the system is not cool. everyone knows they can do what philly is doing. you call them smart. i would disagree. what they're doing ain't some innovative idea that no one ever though of. tanking has been part of the nba for decades. hell they tried changing the rules several times already to kill this strategy.

simply put, its not good for the league to have a segment of its teams intentionally losing for draft picks. even if that is a good strategy for said teams. is just not healthy for the league. that is why the rule has to be changed. if philly were to succeed using this strategy, it would only foster more teams to try. and that would not be good.

ehh, i disagree. if you do a decent job of drafting and have a roster made up of guys on rookie deals, you can stack a team guaranteed.....not to the level of cleveland, but you can stack a squad.

embiid/mcw/noel/wroten will combine to make 12.5 mil in 2015/2016. add in whoever they draft in the lotto, plus 3 or 4 of those young guys making a mil if they decide to take their option and you're looking at mcw+wroten+noel+embiid+lotto pick plus over 45 million dollars in cap room

how can you fail with that setup?

Actually we should have over 50 million in cap space in 2015 :blessed:

13 Teams Vote Against Lottery Reform, Current System Stays In Place
Oct 22, 2014 11:05 AM EDT

Thirteen teams voted against changes to the NBA draft lottery system, voting down the measure during Wednesday's Board of Governors meeting.

The Philadelphia 76ers and Oklahoma City were the two teams that led the charge against the system.

The Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards were two of the bigger market teams that voted against the reform, while the Sacramento Kings voted for it.

The Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans, Detroit Pistons, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, San Antonio Spurs, Utah Jazz, Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets also voted against it.

"Several teams started to wonder about unintended consequences and voted no to be able to do further study," said one owner.
