Did the thunder not trade away a 23 year old, who has the potential to be a top 10 player for the next 12 years for pennies on the dollar or not?
my bad breh, I thought he was quoting EVF :snoop:

but hte Thunder offered him a contract and Harden rejected it.

It was really a choice of Perkins and Harden and the idiots chose Perkins.

They offered him a contract but he rejected it for the max. Trust me, you dont want to diddle around and lose a guy for nothing. Look at the Bulls for a lower scale version of that
Harden wasnt looking for a max deal, iirc.

He just wanted about 5 million more but was willing to sign an under max contract to stay with OKC.

If they hadnt made that dumb move for Perkins, they woulda let Jeff Green walk and had room to sign Harden to the deal he wanted.

Understood....but I dont know if I accept the argument that paying harden the max was too burdensome. If you cant financially keep a trio like Harden/Westbrook/KD together, then I think you should think twice about running an NBA franchise. I think duke just tried to get slick, and thought Harden wasnt worth the money (after shtting the bed in the finals), and he could get away with being cheap by substituting his production, and saving money.

So basically you're just a pansy that likes to indiscriminately pop sht for no reason, and use this place as a repository to argue like a scorned hoe, rather than present counter arguments. I dont give a flying fukk about how many times you've "covered" something. Bytch nikka I dont live on this site like you, so you missed me with that bullsht. Either challenge my idea or shut the fukk up. Fukk you doin in a thread you supposedly have no interest in?

Nah, you're on the long list of clowns that's bought up the SAME shyt regarding Harden. This "top 10 player" rhetoric wouldn't even exist if he was still on the Thunder for starters. So you conclude I live on the site on the basis of saying I covered one subject more than I'd like too? Good one. Miss me with your bullshyt, become properly informed before talking about shyt you have minimal knowledge on.

Nah Pelinka revealed that he was trying to get the max from OKC's FO. He was looking for $60m/4 years.

I mean he was a sixth man. How sixth man in this league have max contracts? And yes hes poor performance in the finals did devalue him. He was offered a decent contract but he rejected it and Presti did what he felt was for the betterment of his team. And plus they would have been well over the tax line. Thats all good for NY and LA but probably not for a small market team like OKC

my bad, I was thinking of the 5 year Max.

But I think the Thunder offered 55 or 56 million. The difference is basically Perkins contract.

Everyone says Ibaka is who they chose, and I get it since they were right around each other, but the Perkins contract is what tied their hands.

When it gets looked back on, that Perkins contract will be rightfully seen as one of the worst moves an NBA team has ever made.

If I was the Thunder I would have traded for a player that can be a low post threat. Ibaka plays good defense but he is not the low post threat that would give the Thunder balance on offense. They should have went after Lamarcus Aldridge.

But they should have used their amnesty clause on Perkins.

They could have amnesty Perkins and kept Ibaka,Harden,Westbrook,Durant.. Obviously they think Perkins is the key to a championship over Harden.

yeah they OG offered him 52.5m, Pelinka threw that back and asked for 60, thunder offered 55.5 and they said they would think it over..... a hour later... :camby:

Yeah the Perkins shyt did handicap them, however if they did sign Harden to what he wanted.... they'd still be in the repeater's tax.... so ultimately it doesn't make that much of a difference... as they want to avoid that at all costs.

but yeah you're right they didn't choose Ibaka over Harden. they gave Ibaka 48.... they were always going to offer Harden more.
