So the Thunder basically chose between Ibaka and Harden

They offered him a contract but he rejected it for the max. Trust me, you dont want to diddle around and lose a guy for nothing. Look at the Bulls for a lower scale version of that

He was under contract for another year and he would have been a restricted free agent IIRC. They made a gamble and lost period. Funny thing is he wasn't even asking for the max. He was only asking for $4 mil more than they were offering.

Understood....but I dont know if I accept the argument that paying harden the max was too burdensome. If you cant financially keep a trio like Harden/Westbrook/KD together, then I think you should think twice about running an NBA franchise. I think duke just tried to get slick, and thought Harden wasnt worth the money (after shtting the bed in the finals), and he could get away with being cheap by substituting his production, and saving money.

This is exactly what he was doing and to be all the way real I co-signed the shyt at the time. After that Finals disappearing act I thought he was crazy to be tripping over $4 mil. After last season I can't front I was wrong and the Thunder look like they have fukked themselves not only out of having possibly the GOAT perimeter trio and winning championships but it looks like they are gonna fukk around lose KD too. All for $4 million. :patrice:

my bad, I was thinking of the 5 year Max.

But I think the Thunder offered 55 or 56 million. The difference is basically Perkins contract.

Everyone says Ibaka is who they chose, and I get it since they were right around each other, but the Perkins contract is what tied their hands.

When it gets looked back on, that Perkins contract will be rightfully seen as one of the worst moves an NBA team has ever made.
A front court of JG and Ibaka wasn't going get them last the lakers.

Boogie Down BX
They should have been able to get a better return for him, during that time the Kings were on the verge of trading Cousins, should have made a play for Boogie.
:smh:

would never happen... boogie was/got a max contract

im telling u... it would have been perfect if BKN kept our lottery drafted harrsion barnes then traded him & anothony morrow for harden
