-ports and sequels to games that weren't on the ps2(ninja gaiden, 8 bit megaman games, street fighter III, fallout)
-original games that became franchises (uncharted, Bayonetta, infamous, assassin's creed, skate, dragons dogma)
-introduced millions of people to streaming through Netflix compatibility.
-visually impressive games that STILL hold up(grand theft auto v, God of war 3, the last of us, kill zone 3)

We not even gon talk about how that platform redeemed guerilla games and turned them into a first rate studio that developed the decima engine which makes death standing and it's sequel look fukkin INSANE. Or the insanity that was FREE Playstation online services or how it introduced millions of people to home media servers.

It was a fukking BEAST and if Sony is smart, the ps 6 will have a disc model that let's you play the full ps1-5 catalog via emulation. If you have enough processing power to make that shyt to make that happen, you've already beaten the ps4 and 5 in value.

Only problem wrong with these conversations are people are comparing the entire gen where everything released already, to a gen still in progress.

PS3 gen was imo better than PS4 gen for the games released.

PS5 is still in progress so people comparing the first few years to the PS3 or 4 are ignoring that even up to 2018 some folks were calling the PS4 gen trash. Then we got God of War, Spider-Man, TLOU 2, FFVII Remake, Ghosts of Tsushima and more.

I think by end of this gen, PS5 gen may clear PS4 by a mile simply due to us getting a brand new GTA game, a new IP from ND, new IP from Sony Santa Monica, a new Marvel game from Insomniac and that's not even including the chinese nikkas developing like they got rent due.

Lost Soul Aside, Phantom Blade 0 may be classics for all we know but also the "It's also coming to PC" discussions are marring the discussions.

We been hearing this for 5 years now, we went from 1st party studios releasing AT LEAST 2 or 3 classics to they barely releasin one game for PS5, Insomniac seems to be the only one still on.

Yeah it's the development times that's taking mad long.

Just like Rockstar during the PS3 gen we got five complete games from them with GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire, Max Payne 3 and GTA V to now only one game a gen. We got four ND games including a new IP. shyt is wild

COVID delayed the development time of these games by 1 to 3 years. Games releasing in 2027 could have released in 2024 to 2026. Expect an onslaught of games for the rest of this gen, which could extend into 2029 or 2030, the years the ps6 will probably release. The ps6 will probably release in November 2028, 4 years after the ps5 pro was released, similar to the ps5 releasing 4 years after the ps4 pro, yet could be delayed into 2029 or 2030 because of tariffs and the current economic turmoil.

The ps5 will be viewed differently by 2029 or 2030, when all of the new exclusives from the Sony studios, PlayStation Hero Projects, 2nd party, and 3rd party release. There are not enough exclusives that show what the ps5 can do in terms of gameplay yet there are a good amount of exclusives. Ratchet and Clank Rift along with a couple of others are the few games that show what the ps5 can do. The rest of this gen including cross gen games released on the ps6 will be really dense for the ps5 including this year, with exclusives showing what the ps5 can do in terms of gameplay.
