these types of things are arbitrary. You can question an assist in damn near every nba game played. The first one was def an assist to me, the second one is more questionable

Neither one of them is close to an assist. The fact that the NBA lets teams use their own scorers for their official stats I assume this happens regularly but neither one of them would traditionally be considered an assist, once a player creates a shot for himself in any way, shape or form the assist is supposed to be out the window.

:francis: shyt Ive always said there needed to be neutral stat keepers. Wasn't the jazz people known for doing this for stockton but even worse?

Its more proof that assists is probably the most overrated stat out there, a players passing ability is important and shouldn't be overlooked, but too much stock is put into these numbers.

7.1 at home, 7.0 on road..no one is cooking:camby:

some of them assists do look kinda sus tho :manny: :pachaha:But i suppose its happening all over the league :jbhmm:

edit: video in the OP only has two examples. There was a longer video in another thread where BI was taking like 4-5 dribbles and Zo still got the assist.

It's an assist if its not more than 2 dribbles...

They literally said it during the game... But I'm sure you don't watch those
They still award them with two+ dribbles -

"Another example at 1.11sec of another assist wrongly credited to Rondo - he passes to Pierce across court (well behind the 3-pt line) - Pierce takes FOUR dribbles and weaves to the rim around two defenders."

Call me crazy but I always thought an "assist" required ZERO dribbles. If anything 1 dribble on a shot or a power dribble before 2 steps and a layup/dunk.

But NEVER 2 dribbles or even four, five or six....etc. This is crazy :mindblown:

Maybe the NBA really has changed :hubie:

Ok Crazy

Because its never been like that.

Its when you get in position to score... Usually after 2 dribbles.

im sure there are other examples as well

But they LITERALLY say it during games.. If he takes MORE than 2 dribbles it's not an assist
