So they really expected Obama to end racism?

I don't think anyone, left or right expected he himself to end it...but I do think that many people thought that his being elected sort of proved that the country was heading that way, like there was nothing else to prove or be done at this point.

The idea that whites generally had was "we just elected a black president, how could America be racist????"
