People are just sensitive as shyt. They want to be courted and spoken to. They want to get the attention that they don't get in their personal lives from people at work and they feel slighted and self-conscious if you don't feel obligated to give it to them. I come to work, to work and nothing else. I get all the attention I need and then some from the people in my personal life. I don't feel the need to put that obligation on co-workers. I don't have to be a dikk (which I usually am) but inserting myself into any and every conversation that isn't work related is not the reason I am here. I'm trying to get money so if I'm not working, any free time I get is spent thinking about bettering my personal life.

Sounds just like me. I got a promotion last year and they gave me this big corner office. Nothing in it but office supplies.
