It's not about insecurity, it's about respect. In Islam, depicting Muhammad is forbidden because the message was bigger than the man. The Christians took their prophet for worship beside God and neglect his message by doing so. They build larger than life statues of him. This is closer to idolatry than monotheism.

Here are the provisions for killing in Islam. The verse you quoted was pertaining to a time of war and instructing those who were fighting to be firm. When you take things out of context you can manipulate it to sound like whatever you want.

I'm just trying to find out why this Christian brother is bashing Islam. I was going to show him the common ground. This isn't about which is better. The Qur'an says whoever works righteous deeds, be they Muslim, Jew or Christian will have their reward.
