This isn't for argument's sake, but as a fan of Tim's music, what are some of the key songs that Timbaland either just attached his name to or had little, if anything to do with.

"Cry Me A River" for example... & nearly all of Danja's catalog when he was with Timbaland...

I really wish cats understood the difference between someone who makes beats & a Producer because Timbaland is the latter & he is downright GENUIS at it. I think people think Timbaland sits behind a Korg Triton all day & comes up with "beats" when in reality Timbaland is a visionary & one of the greatest the music industry has ever been blessed to see. He can take nearly any "beat" or idea someone throws at him or that he comes across & turn it into a full fledged production of nothing short of sonic amazement...

Dr. Luke is another example... he probably hasn't played an actual note on any music his name has been attached to in the last 5 years but he is great at grooming the likes of Benny Blanco, Ammo, Cirkut, etc... same with Polow & Surf Club, same with Kane Beatz... same with most "Producers" who don't necessarily sit behind an MPC or Fruityloops all day...

He produced J. Cole's "Can't Get Enough". I think that's the biggest song he's associated with. He's also done some stuff for Keri Hilson, and the Nappy Roots.

I thought can't get enough was a Timbo beat initially until I looked in the booklet:manny:

Timbaland is basically a Co-Producer who finds new & hot up & comers & molds them into Super Producers... he's done it to Scott Storch, Royal Court, Danja, Brian Kidd, Polow & a few more... that's where his genius lies. And if you think he's not great then just look at where 75% of the producers he mentored ended up after they stopped working with him...

His track record for turning talent is amazing...

To be fair, Scott Storch did the keyboard on Cry Me A River and that was it. Timbaland did the drums, added the sounds, arraigned everything and JT wrote the hook which added depth to the song. Scott Storch drums are weak and ended up sounding like weak Dre patterns until he fell off.

Timbaland is the most overrated producer imo.

His beats dont have that crisp sound to it. shyt sounds horribly mixed. Where is that nikka's treble:why:?

Lex Luger>>>> Timbabland

Just listen to Grove St Party, then Dirt Off Your Shoulder.

Grove St got that deep bass drum, crystal clear hi-hats, emphatic snares/claps:ahh:

Then listen to Dirt off Your Shoulder. Muffled, unmixed soundin beat, underwhelming drums, very bland sounding. shyt actually sounds like dirt:scusthov:

And I LOVE The Black Album

Was gonna  @ that highly blasphemous statement then I just remembered....

VA producers winning regardless.

:blessed:

Listen, everyone entitled to an Opinion but how am I suspose to feel your criticism of Timbaland when you say Lex Luger is better than Timbo? Is that a joke? Timbo has more Classic songs on Aaliyah's "One and a Million" album than Lex's career. Stop. Anyways, I see people are hating on the Genius that is Timothy. Listen Timbaland is a musical genius and Legend. The thing is back in the day people thought a lot of his beats really came from him and they did but he was sampling also. It became a big shock when people found out Timbaland sampled but when you look back he always have sampled. Now as for the Co-producer thing.

Yes Tim did all the production back in the day but he brought a team of producers under his wing and gave them life. Danja being one of them and J Roc being another. Yes they gave Tim some new energy but Tim was the Master, he was the one teaching them. It was like D Dot telling KanYe how he was just a beat maker and not a producer yet. Timbaland knowledge helped to make Danja and J Roc the producers they are today. How can anyone question Timbaland as a producer? Are you kidding? The Hit songs, The Classic Albums. Timbaland has shifted the sound of Hip Hop and RnB. So no Timbaland is not using Ghost Producers.

Every co-producer Timbaland works with gets their credit. Even on "Ice Box" he gave the co-producers credit. Timbaland is Dr. Dre status but even more behind the boards. Don't get it twisted, Timbaland still makes beats. "Tom Ford" is clearly a Timbaland beat. Timbo did an amazing job on Justin's and Jay's album. He's producing some the best music of his career. I'm sorry, I don't see how he's not considered one of the greatest producers ever. With that I leave you with a few Timbo Joints from back in the day:

We're too quick to discredit our own legends in Hip Hop.

Every producer in the game who's ever made noise, has worked with other producers at some point. These cats are workin' in studios, not in their bedrooms at home. That environment calls for collaboration.

Tim' is one of Hip Hop's AND R&B's best producers to ever do it! The cat's been killin' shyt for over two decades. And he's a leader. Him and Teddy Riley were the only two "urban" producers to change the sound of radio after '88. He's always shown that he's brought in other dudes to help on certain things. That's what he's done recently, and he's credited cats. But this dude was carryin' whole albums alone during a time when R&B was on life support. Those Ginuwine, Missy, Aaliyah and Playa albums were CRAZY production-wise.

This cat is GOAT status.

We forget about his years spent with devante swing, dude was just perfecting that bounce and devante sold it to 2pac, tim didn't get that real credit until the jodeci - what about us remix, maybe this is tim carrying on tradition.
