This is a bit of stretch of what I think he was trying to say.

The dude is not articulate which is ironically why he got so far but it's coming to bite him in the ass now. The McCain comments were legit awful though :mjlol:

He is wrong though. Most of the older vets don't get as emotional with their traumatic experience but for example they've found they dealt with more issues with vices like alcoholism and the like. They just come from a generation where you don't talk about it. You just drink a beer and beat your wife like a real macho man.

It seems that Vietnam is the time of the change over where people were much more visible with their emotional distress.
Basically.

Ehhhh this is unnecessary IMO...don't force criticism of the shyt he says. Let his words stand as they are and if it's some dumb shyt it will be easy to dissect. No need to hype the shyt up.

He's right actually

As much as I hate the guy, he didn't say anything wrong : some people can handle shyt, others can't. Didn't seem to imply at all that some were "weak". And he went to say they need support with mental health, which is obvious. I hate to agree with the guy, but can't find anything o hate on this. Now is he really gonna act on it if elected is another story.

But...he's right. Some people can't handle it. And that is a weakness. And that's nothing to be ashamed of...and it highlights the importance of seeking and receiving proper mental health treatment.

Is it just me or is CNN going extra hard on the anti-Trymp news? You created Trump, Jeff Zucker now deal with it.

Should add the idea of ptsd is not generational. Just manifestation changes. There is even ancient writings from the Punic wars where soldiers were described to have a form of delirium that most would label as ptsd. There is definitely a lot of writings from the civil war and ww1 that outlines people suffering from ptsd.

Just now we live in a time where we see these things through a more empathetic lense and wish to "fix" things and bring awareness about issues.

Let's keep it 100, is he lying? :sas2:

The very nature of having PTSD means you couldn't psychologically handle it, aka you were too mentally weak

While I'm at it, :pacspit: the troops, unless you were drafted I got no sympathy. They volunteer, often because they have NO other job prospects left

In Ancient Times it was called "Warrior Madness" or something to that effect. Mind you, people did'nt live as long so the effects may not have been as pronounced.

Now we can see how this shyt effects young men as it happens and right up to when it mixes with old age and becomes an explosive mental cocktail

So what's the answer to the question? At a minimum, it has to be "not as strong."

Yes. Not as strong. And there's nothing wrong with that. If I bench 300, you've trained to bench 200 and the average person can normally do 100... then I put 300 on the bar for you and you can't do it... does that mean you're weak? Depends on the subjective judgment of who is labeling, but calling one group strong does not mean the other is weak.

Even if it's considered a weakness, we need to stop stigmatizing the word "weak" as if implies you're less of a man or can't improve your situation because this is why people with PTSD kill themselves.

Trump surely didn't call anyone weak and even if you'd be able to get that from what he said, it wasn't stigmatizing people with PTSD.

This is cheap political bullshyt at the expense of people who need our help.

As everyone else said... what he said about McCain was fukked up, especially considering his deferment... but this is a non-issue.
