For the 1000000x time, the last "Tomb Raider" plays like an updated "Tomb Raider: Legend", which came out before "Uncharted".

That's it. The only people talking about "'Tomb Raider' bit off 'Uncharted'!" is #1 people that got into the series later, and didn't play half the games, or #2 never actually played any of the "TR" games.

fukk man....how many times does this need to be explained? "Uncharted" was jokingly called "Dude Raider" when it was first shown because it was widely seen as a "TR" game with a male character. How you failed to notice that all over the internet, and in gaming media, I have no idea. This ain't some new shyt that just started, "Uncharted" was compared to "TR" before the new "TR" even came out.

Fred.
Why do you always put "fred" at the end of your post??

Back around '99 or so when I first posted on message boards I thought they were like sending a message, since the concept was relatively new. To me at least. So I signed my name. Since then it just stuck.

Game looks good and it's still in the pre-alpha/alpha stage
The game will more likely look even better when it releases.

:comeon: Stop it. Tomb Raider Legend does not FEEL like Uncharted and vice versa. It does not LOOK like Uncharted and vice versa. The new Tomb Raider games distinctly LOOK and FEEL like Uncharted. There are always going to be differences. There are always going to be games that had running, jumping, climbing etc. But those two games in particular, Uncharted and the new Tomb Raider game look like they were almost developed by the same people. The new Tomb Raider doesn't FEEL like Tomb Raider legends. I played and beat legends. And yes, there is climbing and shooting involved. But the games were distinctly different. People called it Dude Raider because when it was revealed, they hadn't named it yet, and since it was about a guy exploring archaeological sites and what not, it got that moniker. But the masses didn't name it Dude Raider because it looked like Legends. They named it that because of the concept of the game. And you know that is the reason. Legends dropped in what 2006? Uncharted in what 2007? Naughty Dawg didn't drop everything and redo the game and then make it more like Legends.

And don't get it twisted, I'm not even denying that someone Uncharted, from a concept standpoint, didn't borrow things from the Tomb Raider brand......but Uncharted the game, just because it had climbing and shooting, like a number of other games do, does not mean those game borrowed from Legends. But if you look at the new Tomb Raider and honestly tell me that these dudes did not craft the game in the same vein as Uncharted, then again, you are either lying to yourselves or just flat out blind. Either one, take your pick.

no, it had to start somewhere. I remember the mechanics being new in the original (2D) Prince of Persia, and then Tomb Raider was the first to being them to a 3D platformer

it's not even a big deal, but that doesn't mean you can flip it around and say Tomb Raider bit Uncharted

Not if we go by other releases. Hence the title of this thread.
Naughty Dog has a history of that?
:stopitslime:

Plus teaser trailers have been around nearly 20 years. Downgrade talk is just the new internet videogamer outrage. Mood swings like a woman

You aren't even arguing the same point I addressed. I said it's impossible for "TR" to bite off "Uncharted" when the newest "TR" had virtually everything people credit to "Uncharted" a year before that game came out, in "Legend". The new "Tomb Raider" was a next gen version of "Legend"....this is the first "Uncharted" since the "TR" reboot and it looks exactly like the last "TR" because "Uncharted" brought absolutely nothing new to the table in the first place.

Virtually every action/adventure/3D game in the 90's got compared to "Tomb Raider". It is the template for the entire genre, the same way "Resident Evil" is the template for survival horror....the same way "MGS" is the template for stealth games. "Uncharted" is a 3D action/adventure game with shooting/climbing/exploring archaeological sites, action set pieces, vehicles, etc. that people called "Dude Raider", yet you have trouble understanding how the game bit off "Tomb Raider"? :dahell:

shyt like this is why this sub-forum gets clowned.

Exactly. It would be different if I said "Uncharted" was trash....it's a great game that took several things from "TR" and improved/polished them. Then the newest "TR" did the same thing, and people say it's biting "Uncharted"? :dwillhuh:

The originator can't bite, it's impossible.

I think the game looks great but ND lost several people since "UC3". This will be the team's first game since losing creative directors, writers, etc.

UC3 was a slight step backwards. Uncharted 4 looks like a "back to basics" which is a good thing
