I could do that job

Games can have similar mechanics. It's clear that Mario and Sonic are two different games with similar mechanics. It's very clear that different people and different dev teams created those games though. The Tomb Raider brand in general, may have had climbing and jumping and shooting, but that doesn't mean that any game that enters the fray with those mechanics were automatically made in the same vein as Tomb Raider. It also doesn't mean they get to take credit for anything new added to the genre simply because they existed first. Some other dev could have seen the combination of shooting, climbing, etc and decided that they liked the idea of being able to shoot and climb, but that doesn't mean they will necessarily do it just like Tomb Raider did it. The new Tomb Raider games look NOTHING like Tomb Raider Legends. Uncharted looks NOTHING like Tomb Raider Legends. And we aren't talking just mechanics. We are talking visual stylings. The way the camera moves, the way the characters move. All of those things in the new Tomb Raider were taken from Uncharted. But Uncharted did not take those things from Tomb Raider Legends. The mere existence of shooting and climbing might be because of the original Tomb Raider all those years ago, but that doesn't mean that every game that has that gameplay element is necessarily taking TR's style. It just means that games are using a now standard gaming mechanic. Yes, in Uncharted there is climbing and jumping and shooting like there was in TRL. But they don't look similar. They don't feel the same. Pull up a video of the two games. You aren't even arguing the same point I addressed. I said it's impossible for "TR" to bite off "Uncharted" when the newest "TR" had virtually everything people credit to "Uncharted" a year before that game came out, in "Legend". The new "Tomb Raider" was a next gen version of "Legend"....this is the first "Uncharted" since the "TR" reboot and it looks exactly like the last "TR" because "Uncharted" brought absolutely nothing new to the table in the first place.
Virtually every action/adventure/3D game in the 90's got compared to "Tomb Raider". It is the template for the entire genre, the same way "Resident Evil" is the template for survival horror....the same way "MGS" is the template for stealth games. "Uncharted" is a 3D action/adventure game with shooting/climbing/exploring archaeological sites, action set pieces, vehicles, etc. that people called "Dude Raider", yet you have trouble understanding how the game bit off "Tomb Raider"?
shyt like this is why this sub-forum gets clowned.

Those are two games that came out a year apart from one another. They look NOTHING alike. Yes, in both games you can shoot and climb etc, but they don't feel anything alike. They look as if they were made by two different groups of people.
This video does a decent job of showing the similarities, even with the annoying guy talking.
This video even does a very good, though annoying as hell, mashup and the two games are seamless.
And you are seriously trying to argue that the new Tomb Raider didn't completely style jack Uncharted? You are trying to say it cuts both ways but it doesn't. Uncharted being a concept that intersects with that of Tomb Raider is nothing new. That happens all the time in the gaming world. But we are specifically talking gameplay and visual style and it's very very easy to see that the new Tomb Raider heavily HEAVILY followed the lead of Uncharted in this case, instead of continuing the style of Tomb Raider Legends.
I understand what @daze23 is saying. But I'm not arguing that the new Tomb Raider is biting Uncharted because of the climbing or one particular mechanic in general. As I've explained, its because of the finished product. The visual styles, the movements. I wouldn't never be silly enough to simplify to the degree, "Uncharted has climbing....Tomb Raider has climbing....so Tomb Raider is jacking Uncharted". I mean, that's just stupid.
I enjoyed both games.![]()
Tomb raider legends and uncharted 1 played nothing alike.
Tomb raider legends actually plays a lot like the original tomb raider games.
Uncharted is nothing like tomb raider, its infact more like the gears of war series with a Indiana jones twist.
The tomb raider reboot played like fukking naughtydog made it themselves.
I understand that tomb raider started a lot of the ideas that are used but come on breh, unlike legends, the reboot played nothing like the classic raider games it just used the same concepts, gameplay and style however was more along the uncharted/gears/maxpayne3 territory

You seem like u can't grasp the concept of two things having similar concept with totally different executions. You're wrong on several points here, but I don't have all night so I'll just point out a few things.
There is very few games in the history of gaming, that actually pioneered something. So no, two games being similar like this isn't that common.
The "Sonic" and "Mario" comparison is apt, because "Mario" pioneered platforming. Every game after that, even ones that played completely different, were compared to "Mario".
Not only did "Tomb Raider" pioneer virtually everything "Uncharted" does....it helped jump start the entire action/adventure/3D genre of gaming.
Do you realize how foolish you sound, saying "TR" had anything to learn from "Uncharted", when that game's entire sub-genre wouldn't exist without "TR"? You could say "Uncharted" did it better, or it improved on the formula....but saying "TR" bit off "Uncharted" would be like saying "Croc" bit off "Mario 64". It's like saying BIG bit off Jay. It's just....insanely, laughably, wrong.
"Legend" plays nothing like the original game. It was the original "TR" + QTE + vehicles/set pieces + a shooting game....which is essentially "Uncharted"....or more accurately, the "TR" reboot.
I'm curious where you and @The Phoenix were when "Uncharted" was first shown, and the entire internet called it out for biting "TR". It's like....how could you forget that?
I'll even be fair and let you two list off what exactly "Uncharted" did, that no other game had done before it. What did it pioneer, what trend did it start? What game play twist did it introduce, that another game, any game, could steal? It was the culmination of ideas that had existed since the 90's, largely in "TR" and games like it, but polished....that's it.

First impressions of the Uncharted gameplay reveal? By the standards set by existing titles on the current-gen consoles, Naughty Dog's sampler is exactly what we were expecting - dynamic, beautiful and technically brilliant. Unfortunately, for some, the focus is on a game that looks significantly different to the one revealed at E3. Put simply - has the game been downgraded? Has Naughty Dog under-delivered judged by the standards it set itself just a few months ago?
We suspect that the developer would view such comments with disappointment bearing in mind the incredible attention to detail seen in such a small sample of in-game action. However, the gameplay seen here clearly demonstrates a different, less detailed Drake model that doesn't appear to be lit with quite the same level of fidelity as in the trailer. Then there's the fact that the gameplay runs at 30fps right now - not the absolutely flawless 60fps seen in the E3 trailer, and the target Naughty Dog set for itself. It's still not entirely clear if this is the new target or whether the developer is still aiming for 60fps as originally stated.
Part of the problem here is the ambiguous wording used by Naughty Dog for its E3 reveal. "All footage you see in the trailer was captured completely in engine. That's Nathan Drake rendered in 1080p full glory using the power of our PS4 engine," said the E3 blog post text. "The following footage was captured directly from a PlayStation 4," pronounced the trailer itself.
But the question posed by the incredible teaser was simple: is that what the PS4 will be generating in real-time when we sit down to play the game next year? The trailer text seems totally unambiguous: yes it is. The blog text says "in-engine" - which skirts around the fact that the engine may be used to generate offline renders, in which case we can't help but feel that the teaser's wording is suggesting that the footage is something that it isn't. As far as we know, Naughty Dog never used the magic phrase "real-time" on the record (though GamingBolt had a comment, apparently from the developer, that seemingly says otherwise).
With the arrival of gameplay footage, the teaser can now be seen in context - we hope that the final game surprises us with a fidelity matching the teaser, but we suspect that the original footage may indeed have been rendered offline within the engine. That's a shame in some respects because, for some, the discussion now isn't about how great the game looks - and let's be clear here, Uncharted 4 is often stunning - but rather about how it falls short compared to its initial reveal. On a general level - and not singling out Naughty Dog in particular - perhaps it's time for an end to 'in-engine' trailers? Show us the visuals running as we'll actually see them in-game - it's what we really want to see.
SMH. So yeah, you are just purposefully being obtuse. I'm being generous. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt there. You are honestly trying to argue that since Tomb Raider pioneered the genre, that no matter how much it style jacks Uncharted, its not really style jacking because it existed first. That's wrong, and its a very sh!tty out look to have on innovation and evolution, regardless of whether we are talking video games, phones, movies, or anything else. You are entitled to it. You're wrong.....but you're entitled to that POV.You're wrong on several points here, but I don't have all night so I'll just point out a few things.

It is style jacking in a way, see your looking at both series with the mind state that they are both Indiana jones inspired. Is it really style jacking? How many different things can be done with the Indiana Jones formula?
It's not like it makes sense to build a spaceship, shoot off into space and start a dog fight with the Enterprise. It's the same type of adventure so the same shyt is employed in both.
naughty dog has almost reached the Lebron James 2012 level of stanning
