I've never understood the "traditional sound" NY thing. I mean, I understand what we're known for but the city has always been a place with different subcultures/sub-generes. NY as a city has many different styles, Eastside of Harlem vs West side of Harlem has different styles (Harlem's not a borough btw), ways of talking. Borough to borough there's differences in the way people speak. If you go upstate, dudes say shyt like Pop and have their own style. There are many similarities but we aren't exactly the same. It's always been like that and it'll always be like that. This is the thing I don't get about these conversations that I see on this website.
