Providing yourself with knowledge is never a sin. How can you have a reasonable debate theologically if you don't even know the arguments from the other side? People overlook that the most sacred site in Islam started as a pagan religious site.

Prior to Islam, the Kaaba was a holy site for the various Bedouin tribes throughout the Arabian Peninsula. Once every lunar year, Bedouin people would make a pilgrimage to Mecca. Setting aside any tribal feuds, they would worship their gods in the Kaaba and trade with each other in the city.[13] Various sculptures and paintings were held inside the Kaaba. A statue of Hubal (the principal idol of Mecca) and statues of other pagan deities are known to have been placed in or around the Kaaba.

This is what's meant by mystery babylon. Satan will take anything and twist it to look good to ignorant people. People don't even understand the history of what they say they believe in. as for the speaking to spirits. there are bad spirits, and there are good spirits. good spirits have the holy ghost as their source. and ur probably not aware of this, but in many churches today, there are prophets who consult with the holy ghost for advice on behalf of individuals. and by consult i mean, they literally talk to the holy ghost and the holy ghost reveals secret personal information about the individual being prayed for to the prophet. then follows it with instructions on what to do.
