So I'm in Flatbush, NY and a tree in front of my house knocked out the power lines. :wow:

Power shut off right when i was taking a shower. :heh:

And there was a fire right down my street on Troy Ave and a tree is blocking the middle of the road.

Yeah man we're Jamaican-Trinidadian and I got three sisters so we had enough candles to see around the house, but my dad and I were both perplexed why Con-Ed take away our power before the storm hit in the morning to give it back then to later take it back.

How did you hold it down?

Son, I just went through some of your posts, and you've made almost the exact same posts I made in the past 24 hours. :dwillhuh:

When that first blackout hit, I knew they were on some BS, because it was so random. Dinner was prepared early because of that, and of course it wound up being the right decision seeing that 2nd blackout hit they way it did. Wound up just going to bed early, especially since we got caught without battery-operated radios. :snooze:

And seeing this morning that Bloomberg said some of the blackouts were deliberate basically leads me to believe even more that they were on some kind of bs.

I think it's because we live in a black neighborhood. This was the third black out in the past 4 months (remember the heat wave that past this summer) and the fourth one in 2 years by our house.

It was so hot in the house last summer we slept in the car. My father was saying we live either at the beginning of a power zone or the end of one because when a black out happens the upper part of the block has power unless some catastrophe occurs.

Just like the Blizzard of 10 they didn't clean the street except the major roads (Utica, Kings Hwy, Church, Albany, Schenectady, etc) until after a week past.

They probably see this as justifiable if few have to suffer power loss and less chaos would transpire.

....according to the news, it was because their main control room was heavily flooded, and if they DIDN'T cut the power shyt would have short-circuited like crazy.

East Flatbush - I don't really remember a big blackout from this summer, but I do know my block gets random outages that last a couple minutes often

The floods weren't caused by rain, it barely rained.

It was the storm surges and when places like Lower Manhattan are surrounded by nothing but water it's pretty easy to see why massive flooding happened.

We also have our power lines above ground, unlike in the south, which is why hurricanes wreak more havoc on us with power loss.

Pretty obvious shyt when you sit back and think about it.

:smh: @ people still not knowing why there's flooding in NYC.

I really hate this shyt.
I been in hurricanes in Houston and shyt didnt shut down like this.
Folks acting like it apocalypse

They aren't used to it fam. I'm from Coastal SC and been in hurricanes. They aint used to that shyt up there, even one that is "minor" hurricane wise like Sandy.

The shyt up there is like having a fukking Blizzard in Houston or the South.
