On this day, in 1988, Newsweek featured the story, "The Search for Adam and Eve," depicting a Black Adam and Eve on its front cover.

Based on overwhelming scientific evidence, we now know that Africa is the genesis of modern humans, and everyone alive today descended from an African woman who lived 200,000, years ago! She was, by one rough estimate, our 10,000th-great-grandmother.

Today, "there is still a powerful tendency to deny that humanity originated in Africa and that the African peoples of the world are related to each other, or even that Black people are indigenous to Africa. However, the evidence shows that for the first one hundred thousand years (and perhaps longer) African people were the ONLY people on planet earth. No European existed. They were not yet created. Europeans DID NOT invent and create culture, nor civilization."

"Put differently: “Adam and Eve”—or the first modern human ancestors of all living people today—whatever name you give them—were black and not white. Period. And to deny this in the 21st century, and to teach something otherwise to your children, is not just a gross distortion of history, but racist."

I know most of you educated guys on the coli knew this already, but why are they hiding this truth to a youngin like mi?
They never teach this when I had graduated from high school three years ago...

I was born and raised in the islands, and NEVER was taught this in school because I never attended ANY school in the Islands. My father was taking care of me half my childhood years, and he never wanted me to go to school, because we "couldn't afford it". So I had to stay home and help him with his plantation till I was 10/11 years old. Moved to the states, and I was living with his family till I was 16 years old. They never taught us this when I had attended school in the states. All they taught us is Evolution, Anatomy, etc.

I believe most American schools are like this.

I always had teachers telling us all about how my(well not me personally, but as in Dutch) ancestors were the worst slavetraders of them all no lies about the genocide my country committed in Indonesia either, which happened far more recently. Maybe it's just the coli but I kinda get the impression these kind of things aren't that much talked about at schools in the states.

You never get into the out of Africa theory, it's not part of the curriculm, in school in Georgia. I always knew on my own but to say they're black is a stretch, there wasn't a such thing back then but yes they were African.
