Punching in every few bars can be fun, you get a chance to remove a weak line if you don't like the take or maybe tighten up the delivery on a bar. If you just happen to be ON that day you can knock out a track in like 15 minutes

Writing without paper can be some bullshyt though/should be reserved for only a select few. To me there can be a drop off in lyrical quality and delivery sharpness. My brother when he was rappin' was the goat at both.

Slaves couldn't read or write and created entire songs with hidden meanings based on geography with no maps. But Jay can't create verses in his head?:mjlol:

The human brain is greater than you can imagine. This is not some genius ability, anyone can be taught to do it. We didn't always have pen and paper

That’s the part that has me smh Buddy think writing a verse in your head is the pinnacle of human evolution. It is some high level smart-dumb ‘my entire world is rap’ shyt

Also ‘we didn’t always have pen and paper’ is hilariously true considering Jay wrote a song about just that

So I had to memorize these rhymes until I got home, you understand?
So, you know, Once you memorize a sentence, it's like an exercise

You're overcomplicating all of this that's part of the problem:mjlol:

Jay is like any other rapper that cares about and enjoys his craft. I think someone like him has rhymes and concepts going through his head all day. And because of him practicing the techniques for years and years, he has a sturdier file cabinet than most people.

What rapper creates every single thing from scratch on the spot? It's more like a nikka lives, has ideas, writes, and revisits. Jay is like any rapper with a notebook, the notebook is just in his head

So when Jay says he did The Blueprint in a weekend that doesn't mean he sat there and made up verses from scratch in the weekend, it means he's been living and playing with ideas and now he has to get the shyt off his chest. So Jay hears a few beats, goes through his mental file cabinet, "Oh I got something for this one" and a theme comes together. It's no different than any other album ever made

So it's both. There are times when he recalls bars/verses from his file cabinet, and there are times when he hears something and "writes" on the spot:manny:

I ask if you've ever tried any of this or memory techniques yourself because I have, and when you do it enough you'll be surprised at how much shyt sticks after enough practice. There have been times where I had to make myself stop remembering so much

When I taught myself Spanish I was using mnemonics to learn 30 new words a day, and the words stuck

When you look at an operating system like Windows understand that it's based on the human brain
so you're agreeing with me and trying to disagree with me at the same time for the sake of an argument to say "I'm right"? That's the same goddamn shyt I said that you typed in big letters :russ:

No

I've never deviated from the fact that anyone is capable of writing a song in their heads, even with the benchmark you set. The problem with your benchmark is it's not reflective of how most people make music, hand written or otherwise

The reason you even set such an extreme benchmark is because it's impossible in your mind that someone could do what you're saying Jay can't, and you're still wrong:manny:

And you still haven't answered if you've even tried any of the memory techniques or methods mentioned in this thread
