Why yall so obsessed with what qualifies you as being unc or old. If you're not between 15-21 you're old and cooked in these kids eyes. Just let it go and do you. If you feel young and dont think like a flabby n sick person dont worry about what these kids say. Times change, fashion changes. Just move on.
I think it's because for Black Millennials and younger, Hip-Hop culture was embedded in everyone's brains. Hip-Hop culture has always been centered on youth. In Hip-Hop, being old and anything from the past (anything that's more than 7 or 8 years in the past) is seen as unworthy of anyone's focus and corny. So being washed is seen as the worst thing you can be.

When i was a teenager in the 90s, I'd say we saw old as starting closer to 30. But like you said, now it's 21 (I'd say maybe 24). The ceiling keeps collapsing.

ETA: One more point on this. I was thinking about how in Sinners (I'm assuming we've all seen it by now), Delta Slim is as integral to the musical entertainment at the juke as Sammy is. Delroy Lindo is in his early 70s, so assuming the character is roughly the same age as Delroy, that means everyone in the community views an elderly man as part of the fun just as much as a young adult. And also, there's no identifiable difference between how young and old men dressed. The only question was if you could afford a nice suit or not, not if you were going to wear a suit. Young and old men had roughly the same sense of style.

I expect a youngsta to view me as an unc or old man.

I somewhat blame my generation (X) for not instilling reverence for elders.

Oh well..

I'll be that old dude. 😆👍🏿

Hopefully, the young generation will be blessed to make it to my age and beyond, then at that point they will be unc, auntie, old head, OG, etc..
Honestly, Generation X had it the best. You had all the great music in the '90s, no social media, people actually danced at clubs, and women wore far less makeup. There were also fewer issues with obesity back then. Women in the '90s were just naturally finer. I really envy you Gen X folks.

The beard thing just made being an unc a point of pride now.

Imagine not be able to grow a beard and thinking thats a positve trait and not a femine one? :mjlol:

Besides, i'm black with extremely tight curl texture, If i started going clean shaven. imma just look like this

I know the struggle all to well, breh. I gotta be careful even when lining mine up. Then razor bumps will cook me if I fukk around.

And besides, I'm in of those guys that instantly deages without a beard. My woman absolutely HATES that shyt.

Im proud to be Unc status. :salute: Gen Z might be the worst dressed generation I have seen so far so dissing classic polos is not the insult they assume.
Their kids or grandkids will wear Polos tho

:mjlol:

That’s just the way fashion revolves

What's the problem with being an "unc" ?
Arguing with young people about what makes you washed is a losing battle. Young people define what washed is....not the washed person. if you even got to defend yourself then you know what it is

People don't expect much for their life and in the context of men are raised to be women thus their only value is when they are young and it's "over" once they are older
