Dude is the political equivalent of Len Bias. Dude with all the potential in the world and fukked it all up. Most of us here are basically just disappointed in the dude because some of his ideas were keeping the city (on the surface) half way decent. Most of all he was poised to have a meteoric rise. He folks laid down ALL the pins for him and all he had to do was throw the ball down the lane. It always starts small too...first it was the Red Navigator, then the party at the Manoogian...but THEN when that stripper turned up dead and two of the investigators were fired...is when the media/his opponents AND the feds started looking closely. Christine Beady's texts were just the smoking gun dude had been playing with fire for YEARS before he was eventually indicted.
Since his resignation we've had basically a decade of inept, ineffectual puppet leadership that lead to not just the bankruptcy but also the wave of republican leadership in our state legislature (a national trend, but also Kwame was used as an example of the corrupt "liberal" core of Detroit).
I've met him multiple times, he even came into my Journalism class in college and was very candid about the whole thing. A few months later dude was in prison.
I asked him "So why are you so confident, some of the evidence seems to be pretty damning. What have you learned from this?"
and instead of a very concise, well thought out answer he says "Be more virtuous when you text".
