As far as mainstream rappers go, the only ones I would consider gangsta rappers are Meek and French

I mean I heard him say things like "he's the only gangster rapper left"

and that he does "gangster rap"

But all his singles have been the equivalent of many MCs who glorify being loopy, partying(titties ass hand in the air :bryan:) and YAWK YAWK YWAK

When are these gangster rap songs supposed to come out

I mean why is he calling himself a gangster rapper when his topics are more comparable to Action Bronson than NWA

And Im not sayin anything bout his work or presence in the streets but Im talkin solely on his music

Hell..if he's a "gangster rapper" then so is Kdot, so is ACtion bronson, so is Drake.. etc etc.
:comeon:So you've only heard his singles

What do you mean?. Gangsta rap has never not been about "club records" :bryan:. Thats where the money is at.

Q is an an OG, and his music reflects that. He has respect for the continuity of the artform in a way that most trap rappers dont

I get the TS point. coming from a late 80s - 90s standpoint. he would not be classified as a gangsta rapper. out of the last few classes of mc's its pretty clear Freddie gibbs & nipsey are moreso what you'd consider a legit "gangsta rappers."

well yeah, Nipsey Hussle and Freddie Gibbs are more true to the style... I think Q is just a more progressive artist though :yeshrug:

It's 'gangsta rap' with hipster sensitivities that suburbanites can relate to. A former gang banger making this brand of music is just another clear example showing how the culture has shifted away from the hood into the suburbs.

the closest thing to him, from the 90's standpoint would be Coolio... and Coolio was a gangsta rapper who made fun tracks from time to time.

not all the gangsta rappers were on some one dimensional " i gotta keep it gangsta at all times and never have fun cause that aint gangsta" shyt.

what about the culture shifting to the suburbs would explain tracks like Raymond 1969? or Nightmare on Figg St.? or even Yay Yay?
