I believe California is one of the states that mails out a ballot to every registered voter for every election. Voters don't have to request a ballot, if they are registered to vote, a ballot will be mailed to them. So they don't have to leave their house to vote unless they want to.For the first time ever I think Republicans are actually going to be competitive in California.

This is a variation of what they do in the South where they would change some technicality in order to confuse a bunch of old people. They are notorious for changing how things are listed on a paper, or changing the timing, or organizing the options on the ballot roll in a confusing manner. Since they obviously don't control the ballots in a blue state, they're using the one vehicle they do control which is the federal system. Normally these games are for old people, Except this time young people who have never ever used physical mail will get caught up.
And we're still at the beginning of the year that's the crazy part. I expect them to mess with the postal service more in the next 9 months. I'm sure there's a couple of Republicans sitting in the white house right now wargaming how to get even more people to not vote, or how to invalidate their votes.
