Hip Hop made him do it

Exactlyt. A lot of rappers out here promoting those brands when the designers could give two shyts about them. Free publicity.

So Barneys isn't involved? Its just a conspiracy between the NYPD and the clerks? :comeon:

You think if Jay reacts to this the same way he reacted to the Cristal thing, then he's just being sensitive? This is much more egregious

Let's be honest, Jay doesn't give a shyt about this. It's probably not on his radar and he's definitely not gonna let it affect his money or business relationships

Edited My Earlier Post: So you believe Barneys isn't involved? Its just a conspiracy between the NYPD and the clerks? :comeon:

Should black folks in NY continue shopping at Barneys?
I don't know if they are involved, I can't just judge people based on nothing. For all I know, the manager might be black.
And not only that, the NYPD could've approached any clerk and told them that they had a top secret operation targeting drug dealers aka murderers, nigerian frauds aka pimps and people smugglers or whatever the fukk. The possibilities are endless.

Now, should black folks in NY continue shopping there? I don't know but people who got fukked over should go to court together and squeeze them for dough. We should be able to shop where the fukk we want.

Jay will 99% probably do nothing at all. I mean these dudes live in other worlds than the regular folks, and different universes from the poor hood folks he raps about growing up as.

The sad part is you have 19/21 year students breaking their bank to copy the lifestyle they see in the music videos.

Frankly these stores etc don't WANT the 'lower' class in their stores. You got to understand on a psychological level the only reason folks pay 400 bucks for a belt is because its a status symbol that 99.99% of the world cant afford to engage in. These brands do not want the lower class scrimping and saving to buy their brands and then wearing it in public, because all that does is give them a few extra sales but completely destroy the exclusivity and destroy the long term value of the brand.

I didnt realize this was an upcoming promotion for jigga with barney's, thought it was in the past. This will probably be too hot in the news for the next few weeks, cosigning may tarnish the jigga brand, jigga will probably fall back on the collection until spring or something. Basically he will do a cost benefit analysis of this... dudes forget jigga is an unashamed crack dealer who shot his own bro over a gold chain... fully digest that... jigga will do whatever is best for jiggas pocket.

If you think that Barney's is hurt by the publicity of this you are sadly mistaken. their target demographic is not put off by the fact the store is cracking down on low class minorities are being targeted and in essence banned from the stores... just the opposite in fact.

He has to do something. He would look like a hypocrite if he went through with this deal. The loss of profit shouldn't be a concern. I will say it could there should be some concern if he backs out and Barneys ends up suing him, but he needs to at least try and let everyone know he's trying to back out of it.

LOL I can already see what he did when this story dropped - :snoop:

He'll prolly drop it...doubt there was much money in it for him anyway (relatively speaking)...sh!t was just a "look"...if they're caught up in some racist scandal, that ruins the look...publicly dropping the deal gives him some easy "Jay-Z cares/did the right thing" browny points...easy call

(Another examples is Kanye West spending his adult life being the number one unpaid endorser of Louis Vuitton and then having Louis Vuitton slam the door in his face when he wanted to work with them)
:stopitslime: Ye made like four pairs of shoes in collaboration with Louis Vuitton.
