Your insistence on this "agenda" talk is loaded phraseology, and, once again, consults the same bigoted playbook that drives the same rhetoric directed towards black folks.
The fact that Collins isnt perfectly upright morally, doesnt distract from the perversive discrimination that gays face in this country, and the historic nature of his coming out. You are free to focus in Collins personal failings in order to pursue your narrative, in much the same way that those on the right pursued the fact that Trayvon Martin smoked weed a few times in his life, in order to latently support bias against his person, and blacks.

stop comparing race to a lifestyle u ignorant closet racist. Your not gonna emotionally manipulate blacks into riding for gays off that bs

Im analyzing the meaning of your words....and how is his coming out not historic? How many other athletes from a major american sporting league have come out while still active? Sure, you can quibble about how "active" he was when he came out, but the fact remains that he was technically active. Im unclear exactly what the relevancy is there anyway.

And you're reaching about how celebrated his coming out was. It was a story that ran through the cycle --- nothing more than that. You act as if they are creating holidays for the man.

Lets talk facts only here...He WASNT active... If he was this thread would have never been made...It's the premise of this whole discussion...

As far as reaching about how celebrated he was....

Outside of LeBron James. How many NBA players have this on their 2013 resume?

Cover of Sports Illustrated
Presenter at MTV Awards
Personal Meeting the 1st Lady, sitting president and 1 former president
Throwing 1st pitch at MLB baseball game
Lead interview on Good Morning America

I think you're a good poster.. So it's strange to see you allow your emotions to get in the way of your intellectual honesty...And lazy for you to continue to make false equivalences between something that can be hidden for a lifetime to something that is apparent from the first moment you take a breath...

It's funny...you usually see a dude and hear rumors he is gay...and you don't ever know if he was gay...but you never see him with a woman...

Kinda like how they said Luther Vandross was gay...cause in all his songs he never ever once referred to the person he was talking to as a woman...

But this nikka Jason Collins...this nikka gonna say he gay...but you aint never seen this dude with another dude before...he gay and you only ever seen him with his ex fiancee? :ohhh:

Frank Ocean of the NBA then :ehh:

Lol....so are you prepared to list the "worthiness" of all people who have thrown a first pitch in 2013? And you really want me to believe that the fact that Collins presented an award at the MTV awards (wouldnt have known this unless you told me), or had a good morning america feature (ditto) is what has you all hot here? Really?

The fact that you suggest gay people "hide" who they are, and whom they choose to love, is all that needs to be said here.

So now you're denying that homosexuality can be hidden? Then what is the whole concept of "coming out of the closet" about?

What was Jason Collins doing for the first 30 years of his life?

:heh:

You're in such a hurry to be offended you are ignoring basic logic....

Y'all REALLY don't like gay people eh?

I guess they should all sit down and shut up and go play over there in the proverbial sandbox while everybody else is on the playground, you know, so we don't have to listen to them babble about being treated fairly, behind the veil of the gay agenda.

Just speaking for myself, I like anyone who treats me with respect and kindness...

But one thing I will say about gay people.. They DEFINATELY need better advocates...

Dog.....I called Jason Collins a coward. I work with openly gay folks who refuse to hide their status for anyone....those I've known for over 20 years. This clown kept it private, even from his twin bro, for over 30 years and tactically waited until his career was over to announce coming out. Fooling a woman during the prime of her childbearing years before coming out.

Why can't it be an indictment about HIM, HIS actions and NOT his sexual orientation?

This thread has been littered with his actions, yet you STILL want it to about cats disliking gays?

I can't stand yall niqqas in here sometimes.

To that, I agree. But I think what Jason Collins' story really shows is how difficult it would be for a notable athlete to come out while active--if it were simple then someone would have done it already.

It's not simple because the media will make it a bigger deal than it actually is. The majority of the locker room wont care. If you can play- you can play. Organizations simply don't want the backlash and the scrutiny of releasing a gay player.

Dog, how many locker rooms have you shared with openly gay athletes? I ask you this question because I know you've been in a lot of locker rooms. Being in an office with openly gay people and sharing a locker room with them is comparing apples and oranges. Would you say it'd be more difficult to be openly gay in the hyper-masculine environment of a sports locker room?

And indict his actions if you like--I'll agree with you. He did some fukked up shyt. But let's be reality, that's not what this thread is about.

That's what this thread was about. He's not making history. His actions prove it.

REad the thread title.
