didn't know that Carolina's D-line coach left after last season to go to Florida, no wonder the d-line for them hasn't looked as good

he had a sack and two total tackles for loss (basically his avg for the season last year) against georgia. if you watched the game it was apparent he had an impact its just that noone else did. it may be the loss of the dline coach to florida, it may be the defensive coordinator having a bad game, it may just be the talent around him or a combination of all of those.

going into the game last year there devin taylor setting the edge opposite clowney. he didnt get a ton of sacks his last two years, but he set the edge and kept contain so teams werent able to just roll out to the right every play away from clowney. while theres some prospective nfl talent on the defense its not the same defense as last year. they cant really run the 4 de package like last year. they had a two deep of experienced lb's and devonte holloman at spur that could contain the run. dj swearinger who could defend the pass and run equally well. i thought there would be some growing pains, but this is worse than the tv show.

So 1 sack & 5 tackles in 2 games is acceptable for you as a South Carolina fan?

I know y'all ain't used to success down there, but those aren't the numbers of a premier defensive end breh
He had the same stats the first two games last year against worse competition and that was never brought up. But because of the hype going into this year every game and play of his picked a part. People can at least wait until they've played more games into the season before making a more conclusive assessment

Sacks are not the be all end all.....if he's disruptive in the backfield or causes the other team to alter what they do then he's done his job.

I didnt see much of yesterdays game tho, so I dont know how he did

Stats aside he just hasn't LOOKED as dominant. He's look winded, had to take plays off, getting banged up, he just hasn't looked like the monster DE everybody knows he's supposed to be. I bring stats up to back up my opinion, not the other way around.

He's still the #1 pick, but lets not act like he hasn't been somewhat disappointing this season so far
