Well I’m skr8 up out da sou & “bless your heart” is definitely overstated as an insult, that’s some shyt from like movies… But yea basically. they typically just want you to keep trying even if it’s not the greatest when they say that. But if your Japanese was truly great they likely wouldn’t say that. So it’s more like “oh I see you, keep at it brehsan”

but damn op, they ain’t got no golden corrals in Tokyo? Shidddd I’ll be damned. You starving out there. I know they got a turkey burger and some cranberry sauce from the farmers market you can munch on.
Yep. I live far from Tokyo but even most major chains cater to Japanese taste. For instance there is a Denny’s down the street from me and it’s basically just another Japanese restaurant. No grand slams there.

Turkey is an imported meat. If I wanted a real Turkey from an international supplier it’d cost about 9000-12000 yen for a 16 which is about 80 bucks. They also don’t have ovens that size really.

Any international food outside of McDonald’s, KFC or Burger King is going to run your pockets. Even Pizza is about triple the cost. American BBQ fogetaboutit.

Not trying to derail your thread. But how is living over there. I lived in Okinawa 2 years but never made it to mainland

We usually have turkey, ham, baked Mac and cheese, dressing, collard greens, sweet potatoes, cranberries from the can, corn, deviled eggs and green beans or cabbage.

And then desert options are usually sweet potato and pumpkin pie. And one of those assorted cheese cake platters.

My job used to prepare a thanksgiving meal for employees on-site using these electric roasters, didn't even knew they existed before that

Not celebrating Thanksgiving but I'm making pork belly sliders for dinner. I marinate the pork belly in a spicy bulgogi sauce and grill the pork belly. Add crispy onion straws, homemade spicy pickles, greens, and a goguchang aoili on a brioche slider.
Sounds good! Been wanting to try making my own pickles, is it easy? Have you made chicharone with pork belly before?

Pickling is pretty easy. You just make a brine and add your cucumber. I usually add jalapeños, habaneros, or serranos for the spice. You can add the cucumber to a hot brine and do a quick pickle or wait till the brine cools down and add them after. Waiting for the brine to cool does take longer for the cucumber to pickle(about a week), but you develop more flavor especially spice.

Yeah I like crisping up pork belly. I usually give it a par cook in the oven first then drop in the fryer. It gives you a crispier skin that way and meat comes out more tender.

Sorry this is a thread for Americans, mainly Black Americans, surely there’s a thread about whatever oatmeal and goat raisin based dishes your people like to eat somewhere out there.

That’s be funny if not for the fact my dad is black American and I never said otherwise. You on the other hand have admitted to fleeing to Japan cuz you couldn’t get p*ssy here, and now you’re admitting you’re too broke to enjoy your western amenities in Japan

Be in a whole nother country talking about “this is a thread for Americans”. nikka I’m here and you’re not. Nasty work.
