the bolded...i could see that.

as far as evolving. i'd let him drop that album first. but as far as his mixtapes they dont stand out from each other at all. In a DC 2 could have just been throwaways from DC 1 and nobody would notice kinda way

Right. Meek has potential, and I hope his album delivers. His element is lacking from the game, but a little creativity would do wonders for his career.

Meek is garbage now.

His earlier freestyles and beef with Reed Dollaz was dope though.

He got some bangers

We have a winner

Them bangers is what made him standout from any number of philly street rappers and what got him on guys like Tip and, later on, Ross's radar in the first place...He made I'm a Boss and that was one of the more standout bangers of this decade so far...House Party was a good follow up banger to prove to the new fans he made that it wasn't a fluke...the mixtape he dropped after that had some more bangers on it....he was a part of a bunch of MMG bangers...the ability to make bangers is the equivalent of being a serviceable 7 footer in the NBA, there will always be a spot for you in the game/league...there may be a bunch of random unsung heros who may be better than this or than than Meek...but they ain't come up with them bangers

I think it's that he's street and raps quite well, street rappers have been wack since Jeezy/Ross/Banks and them came through and that was nearly 8 years ago.

Who else is there with actual (no 50) rap skills? Him and Gibbs and both are kinda hyped up difference is that Meek is better promoted, can do more pop, has a better grind, better managed and has more willpower to reach stardom.

You telling me banks wasn't a successful street rapper?
Gold first week, hottest joints in the street, hottest mixtapes with g-unit and all that.
Both him and Buck, most definitely Buck.

And of course I forgout about the game, but it was all 04-06, since then it's not been a new gangsta rapper with rap skills AND commercial success and Meek is basically the first since back then.

Three times, four times, then a couple of mo' times
Please, you're Amateur Night, it's Showtime

Perfectly stated. He has his lane, and the young brother is wheelin down that joint perfectly right now imo. No one is expecting an Illmatic caliber album from him, but something in the ballpark of DC1 would be fine with me.
