suga free don't rhyme off beat :francis:

He'll literally doubletime two bars and make a sentence end on the next bar like normal, but never off beat

E-40 don't rhyme off beat

Kweli don't rhyme off beat

shyt, Kool Kieth will literally rhyme around the beat and still be on beat

Sadat X don't rhyme off beat

RZA don't rhyme off beat

Blueface don't give a shyt about rhyme to beat structure. Its like a wack acapella to a random beat.
A lot of folks clown him but Serv On is like that two. He hardly rhymes at the end of his bars. He usually rhymed within his bars, and sometimes when I thought he was spitting just to be spitting, he'd fukk around and land that rhyme in the next bar. Not exactly everybody's cup of tea, but I think it's unique. Took me a while to catch on to it.

Norfeast groovin…
I get what the OP is saying because they're from the same area and Blueface is like a 2019 b*stard child version of that Suga Free/E-40 gamespitta style. Like everybody has said, Blueface's just isnt nearly as polished. It comes from the way pimps talk (Saice Walka is a southern variation of it). The Silkk comparison is also spot-on.

"Why U Bullsh*ttin" is probably the most popular local LA songs and Blueface was raised on it. I haven't listened to his interviews to see if he's ever talked about it.

Hope I Don’t Go Back is my fukkin jam! :banderas:

Oh, and this is a terrible terrible thread. Suga Free is a one of a kind emcee. Prolly the most pimped out rapper ever.

It's not just the being offbeat. That word is actually misused.

A lot of times if there's a consistent flow that repeats with symmetry parallel to the beat byt it doesn't hit the beat the way people expect they call it off beat.

When Big Sean broke his flow mid verse on "all me" people would say it's off beat. Remy is off beat.

Blue face be saying shyt that doesn't even rhyme (which could work for the right type of rap like when Prodigy was still alive), he be uses too many syllables per bar in q cramming way (which could work if you have other parts right...like plies), he has this slurring sound that he don't enunciate his words correctly and there's a lack of clarity (this works for mumble rappers who can make it up with Melodies that are catchy), he has like no bars and you can't take him seriously. It's like a YouTube parody video.

Suga Free says things to where he's floating, and saying syllables where twisting your tongue and saying them that quickly is hard to do.. especially in one take. The content of Suga Free is also infinitely better. Suga Free is arguably the king of that pimp shyt type rap right up there with Too Short. His voice is also a huge part of what makes him more listenable.

Suga Free out here is a universally respected legend.
