I'm expanding my t shirt production and im looking for ways to cut costs and possibly improve quality.

The last business I worked for was awful in this regard. Boss is super foggy eyed when it came to that.

My experience, invest in your equipment. 18 minute exposure times were not exactly thrilling and larg, bulky manual presses are another money and time sucker.

That's good advice.
Looks like around 2 stacks for a good digital t shirt printer :patrice:

I need to see one of these in action first :takedat:

But if it can create quality garments in a timely fashion i'll prolly cop :steviej:

I always wanted to get into the t-shirt business. I always had great ideas to put on shirts.

I see a lot of DIY DTG printers that people build but no one is giving up the blue prints.

IDK the market for digital T-Shirt printing but the more you can get done in the lowest amount of time is obviously ideal. I'd suggest a good exposure before anything.

Are you doing it the OG way? Expose, rinse, dry, press? My old boss was always on some anti-establishment shyt, didn't want newfangled technology even though he could probably build one himself. Most people wanted a few shirts but he was totally wholesale only. Needed at least a dozen shirts to be made.

It's gonna ruin his business in a few years. I tried to warn 'em. :francis:

I just made an order with a company who may be able to help. Let me see how this first order goes and if all goes well I'll pass on their info.

The digital printing machine can make a t shirt in about 4 minutes. Which is good, but I can see how that can turn into several hours with big orders. Plus I have to buy the machine, the ink, stay up on maintenance, etc... I'm not tryna do all that right now. I like designing shirts not necessarily making shirts, so if i can pay a little extra and have someone else make the shirts that's ideal.

So like I told homey above I'm about to outsource 90% of this process. I found a link on the t shirt forum for fulfillment services (http://www.t-shirtforums.com/t-shirt-fulfillment-services/), which basically lets me design the shirt, then they provide the shirts, apply the design, and ship me the finished product.

Like I said I just placed an order last night so we'll see how these first shirts look.

We had a bunch of those outsourcing orders. Imagine clipping the tag off of a Canvas shirt and putting your own logo on the tag, selling the shirt for $45 in store when it was $6 to make.

White people. :francis:

Considering that you're not doing volume printing and are actually are selling the final product a digital printer sounds great. If need be you can always source out for special orders (discharge) or large quantities.

Good luck with your shyt breh.

I received a lot of helpful info from this thread so I wanted to come back and share the wealth a little. My first two designs came in...

I plan to do maybe 15-20 more designs throughout the year, then possibly get into other types of clothing (jeans, designer shirts, sweaters, etc).

I used Gildan Ultra 2000 t shirts. They're high quality, the designs look good on them and they can survive multiple washes. If you order in quantities of 100+ you can get finished shirts to your door for between $5-$7/shirt depending on the design and how many colors it has.

Designs on the t shirts usually max out in size at 12"(width)x15"(height), but some printers can go bigger for an extra fee.

I really recommend the fulfillment services if you have ideas for t shirt designs but don't feel like doing all the legwork.
