So when did it become popular to act like Eminem DIDN'T outshine Jay on "Renegade"?

Them Lo Lifes...
Whatever it was Eminems lyrics were on topic and he built his verses better than Jay.
After listening to the song.

I think its about the concept of the song and Em's 1st verse is the follow up to Jay's introduction of what a defines them as being 'Renegade'.

Em just happened to be proficient in killing verses..:manny:

Of course he outdid Jay-Z; wasn't that his song he'd produced and written at least a year before? There's nothing impressive about having a year's head-start and sounding like you did, certainly wouldn't refer to that as "outshining" anyone. Em stans and their random urges to remind us how insecure they are about his place in rap.

You mean the same song Jay was given and had the resources to prepare for?

How does having the verses recorded BEFORE you give you a disadvantage?

And what does the beat have to do with it when you're supposed to have one of the illest flows in the game and hand chose the song as the only guest appearance on your album?

Em did his thing also though. His delivery and flow was great. Nobody got washed.

I agree. Both Jay and Em were pretty godlike on Renegade. I don't think anyone got washed.

But I can't get mad at someone saying that Em had a better verse. it could go either way. Reminds me of Life's a bytch with AZ and Nas.

In all honesty the hood never got down with Eminem's verse cause it's not our style, you have to be basically be like one of the dude's that got a disposition similar to the dude on the left in this picture to really cape for Eminem's verse like that

Yeah, that very song.

How does having the verses recorded BEFORE you give you a disadvantage?

One came up with the song idea, the beat, the hook/cadence, produced the record and had a damn near full year to basically perfect it etc., and the other did not. :jbhmm: How are these not factors? It's not like they both went in the studio and had minutes to prepare. You trying to tell me you gave Jay months to sit on that beat and he wouldn't have come up with something slightly more impressive? :jbhmm: Are you an Em stan? :jbhmm:

They were both neck and neck technically speaking around the time, but one had a legit advantage because they'd sat on the song for much longer and basically came up with it and dictated its direction. Are you disputing these as possible reasons for the gap in performance, and especially in the first verses:jbhmm:? Not like Jay came out looking completely washed either, as others have pointed out looking back shyt was a lot more on par than it was probably made out to be due to all that mania surrounding one of said artists at the time.

What about ems verse makes you say it was better than jays aside from the fact that gnauze said so? Enquiring minds would like to know:jbhmm:

Subject matter aside, Ems flow was flawless while Jays was choppy as shyt

Jay bought the record from Em and thus had all the time in the world to prepare. Em was the only feature on that album.

Originally it was a collaboration with Royce who also outperformed Jay on the track.

Just because you

So you have proof as to when exactly Jay bought this record from Em, thus chronologically giving him "all the time in the world"? :jbhmm: What does Em being the "only feature" have to do with anything? :jbhmm: In addition, have we now shifted this debate from Jay arguably getting outshone, to Jay quite possibly being a weak rapper who contributed weak verses to the song Renegade? :jbhmm:

The smilies are cute and I understand now simple things perplex you.

I'll break it down in terms you can understand.

Em did a record which was recorded long enough ahead of time for Jay Z to record a verse to the best of his capabilities when he purchased it.

That's like having the other team's playbook months before the game.

Jay lost even after having the advantage.

He was outgunned. Get over it.

Also, I never said that Jay is a weak rapper. He's in my top ten. Don't put words in my mouth
