side note: i've hated that nas said that....reason being it really hurt collabos....people used to jump on songs with each other a lot, and as fans, we'd win cause we got some great hook-ups that we might not have expected....yea, people mightve preferred 1 mc's verse over another's, but overall, fans appreciated the song....but after that nas line, fans stopped appreciating the songs, and just judged them to see who they thought had the better verse...and artists stopped doing collabs as much cause they were scared of 'getting murdered on your own shyt'.....

ironically: that line from nas is also the same reason he has never done a track with em and probably never will...

First time I heard Renegade, me and a few of my buddies was cruising in the ride on our way to a hotel party.It was four of us.Two of em, total Jay stans. I'll never forget;soon as the song went off, everybody was like "The white boy got him on that one" ..The two Jay stans stayed quiet.Didn't even try to put up a fight.

My thing with that is that I move it from slightly to 'completely' considering Jay actually heard Ems verse prior to recording his. Thats my issue. That nikka Jay knew Em destroyed those bars because the song was written prior for Em and Royce, but some label bullshyt made em pull royces verse.





And even with that benefit, Jay still didn't pen something that equalled the white boy. Im giving Em all of his credit on that one. I mean, how the fukk do you hear that above version and not bring your absolute best to that 16?
