Yeah with no playoff experience. Nowhere near as good of a scorer as Pau was and not yet the defensive beast he'd become later on.

Try again.
Not to mention the best free agent out there was maybe Ben Gordon or Rasheed Wallace. Jason Kidd was staying in Dallas and nobody in their right mind would have given Shawn Marion a max deal at that stage. This mystery free agent that would have come over didn't exist. There wasn't much of a free agent market for stars in 2008 or 2009.

why do y'all ignore the fact Lakers were a top 2 seed without Pau:mindblown:

It wasn't because of fukkin marc gasol was it? That's the point, at that time marc was still overseas i believe, and the lakers got off to a great start and when bynum got hurt wanted to continue to contend for the ring.

Cap space means you can absorb a deal, like memphis with z bo

:dwillhuh:nikkas really acting like LA aint go from no playoffs and 2 1st round exits to 3 straight finals once Pau got there

Pau Gasol on the Lakers might be the most disrespected player on a title team EVER...

The team literally went from trash and Kobe wanting to leave to back to back champions once they traded for Pau...

This talk of "b.b.b.but they would have had Marc Gasol and cap space" is :baldhuh:...I mean have you seen the type of players the lakers have signed "with cap space"? Cap space got them Nick Young...cap space got them Jordan Hill...cap space got them Timothy Mozgov...but somehow the same people signing these guys was going to sign some star player to go with Marc Gasol if they had just kept the cap space:baldhuh:

Is this a real post :baldhuh:

Pau led Memphis to the playoffs 3 straight years before going to the lakers :baldhuh:

He averaged around 20 7 2 and 1 in the playoffs...he got swept all 3 years but his team was the lower seed so that is not surprising...

I just don't understand why people on the coli try to act like Pau was some bum before he went to LA:baldhuh:...dude was the best player on what was becoming a perennial playoff team while averaging between 17 and 7 and 20 and 8 every year...throwing in 3 or 4 assist and around 2 blocks every night...

nikkas pressed to act like Kobe dragged those teams to chips..like i said earlier in the thread, Bean is that nikka regardless. His legend is etched in stone. No need to downplay Pau. He clearly got them to another level. nikkas :cape: for Kobe when he had to carry bums and was getting bounced out the offs, then wanna shyt on the nikka that helped him grab two more rings. For what? Saying Kobe needed Pau is not a diss statement, its a real statement.

Anyone who thinks Gasol isn't a HOFer is just being stupid.

He's the second greatest european player of all-time (behind Nowitzki) and has won at pretty much every level. He was also a key player on three straight final appearances for the Lakers and is a 5x all-star.

I don't know where he ranks all-time but the names thrown around in here (Sikma, really?) are absurd. He's a legitimately great player.

I was typing at a red light, didn't finish my post

Pau is a very good player but you clowns take it overboard

This d*ckhead said he's a top 10 big ALL TIME :dead:

Pau gasol was considered a Carlos boozer level player. You clowns act like he was Duncan or Hakeem

He is not to be ranked. He was never known as a dominant force or anything special. He was a good player and put up some decent numbers and won chips because of good lakers teams of Kobe and Bynum and Phil. He has allstar appearances but his Chicago career is nothing to note, and Memphis was just a good player with mediocre success and results at best. Your question is similar to asking where do Michael Finely and Eddie Jones rank all time in SG's.
He made 2 all star teams and 2nd team all NBA in Chicago:francis: and you are giving Bynum credit before Pau:mjlol:
