Marc contributed the same ppg and rpg in 2010-11 as he did in his rookie season....., so,,..
Yes because he was the same player as a rookie that he was in year 3 and if Kobe was demanding a trade in 2007, he would surely have waited for a rookie center from Spain to save the day a year or so later in 2008-09 :camby:

Marc wasn't contributing on a good team until 2010-2011. Kobe was demanding a trade after 2.5 seasons of no Shaq. He wasn't gonna wait for Marc to develop. That would have been 5-6 years of rebuilding, not to mention it makes having Andrew Bynum redundant. The only big free agent the lakers have signed in the last 30 years to build around was Shaq. The lakers were much better off trading for pau

Gtfoh with this stupid shyt

Pau wasnt contributing on a good team either before he got to the lakers if you wanna play that game. He anchored 2 60 loss teams before joining kobe.

You gotta be either stupid or biased to matter of factly state that "kobe wouldnt win a title if they didnt gdt pau" knowing damn well they woulda had marc and cap space

@holidayinn21 these dudes disgust me bro

So you're saying the addition of pau didn't have a significant impact on the lakers them?

So you're saying the addition of pau didn't have a significant impact on the lakers them?

Where did i say or imply that?

Pau was a great addition, but kobe wins more rings with or without pau

Kobe
Odom
Bynum
Marc gasol
Cap space for another all star

The lakers would have actually been in position to potentially build a better squad than what they had with pau

You cant objectively argue against this

So this is all from 2008-09 onward. You're suggesting the lakers would have signed some other star. Given that they have a logjam in the big rotation, you're saying that they'd have gone for a point guard or small forward. Which one was on the market they go for? It's not like any point guard ever played well in the triangle under Phil anyway. The players who could post up were the guys who regularly distributed the ball.

List some of the potential all stars they could have signed.....
The lakers were in straight panic mode around that time, more titles are far from guaranteed without pau
This thread is wilding since pau ain't on anybody "Top xx" list but at least give him credit for being an integral part of the Lakers coming back

Kobe stans are dying to minimize Pau Gasol's importance from the Lakers so they can big up Kobe "carrying" the team

...but act like Timmy had all the help in the world.
Timmay never threatened to leave SA.
Timmay wasn't given a HOF player for Kwame Brown.

To sit here and act like a guy giving them 19/10/3.5 on 56% shooting, was the primary defender on Dwight in the 2009 finals and was the lakers best player in the 2010 finals wasn't key to their success :scust:. Pau was in the conversation for best power forward in basketball at the time.
