In terms of skill and catalog, he's right there up there with the top names. Just doesn't have the commercial success.

Extremely talented, lacks crossover appeal. Can't put him up there with Cole or Kendrick and he's been unable to create any type of mainstream success (which does matter).
Why does it matter? If Pay attention was made by Drake it would've been a hit. Him being from a small ass state with no cosign hurts him too. Cole wouldn't be Cole without the ROC.

The hate and slander on this board is too real for me sometimes. Big K.R.I.T. is one of the best new artists to come out in the last 5-6 years. This catalog is amazing and I love his introspective tracks the most. He has a nice balance where he's not just making headphone music you can bang it in the whip as well.

I actually bought this:

krit-full-mock-1.jpg

Just cause I wanted the CD versions of King Remembered in Time and 4eva n a Day. I had them on mp3 and I burned copies of those two on CDs, and I already had the cd version of Krit Wuz Here and R4, but they didn't work outside of the car and I needed that official shyt. Came with the Records and cassettes as well. :obama:

EASILY one of the better artists to come out the last 4-5 yrs. Dude has an amazing catalog already. Deserves way more support even though he has a decent fanbase.

His lack of crossover appeal is unfortunate, because he's made songs that should've been all over radio. Exhibit A:

Which was a snippet on King Remembered In Time, then released in August or September of 2013. shyt should've been pushed to radio in the summer. Everytime I've interacted with him he's been 100, real down to earth cat

Stop making excuses. KRIT is criminally underrated but to be a top tier artist you've got to make hit records. KRIT hasn't proven he can do that so no he doesn't deserve to be compared to Kendrick or Cole until he can do that

Like someone already mentioned, he is similar to DJ Quik; don't forget, dude raps, produces, engineers, etc. His raps are deep too most times, he doesn't sound like most South rappers (not a diss but most of them do trap beats and Migos flows).

Definately one of the best from this generation of rappers. Will carry on checking for him through his career.

By the way, with all this Meek vs Drake shyt going on, Krit would merk your favorite rapper on some battle shyt too.
All this attention, I don't even know what I might do with it
That Control beat is like an ugly bytch that everybody done fukked raw
Maybe you hit it
Aww man, I'm more concerned why nikkas been textin' my cell, callin' my phone
Ask me about this Kendrick shyt, that he ain't even really even diss me on
I ain't drawn to all this propaganda, rap shyt 'bout as real as Santa

Now I'm lyrical all of the sudden
Well last year they claim they ain't understand me

I'm buryin' nikkas, and pissin' on they graves
Another nikka, other nikka name on your chain
And they call me a slave

nikkas scared of this country boy, lord forbid I catch a body
In the studio
tryna calm your soul
Lookin' at your manager, I think Krizzle got me

I put you in the trunk with these subwoofers
5th wheel in my shottie
I'm so prolific with these scriptures they might give me a Bible
Page 1, come here son
Mind your manners, just be cool

I know you lame when you was in school
The little fame you ain't used to
And it was easy for you to move through
English class with your own thesaurus

Like one of these days I'm gonna be a rapper
But all my verses gonna be borrowed
So I'ma take from all these Southern artists
That mainstream never heard of
Recycle all of they lingo
And make sure I screw my words up

Bravo for your swagger-jackin'
I'm overwhelmed by your dedication
You actually fooled these people into thinkin'
That your music was innovative

Frustrated
Rap battlin' never got me out of no public housin'

You tellin' me I can be King of Hip-Hop
And they wouldn't give it to Andre 3000?
nikka please, this award ain't got shyt to do with us

God could physically come down and say "he the greatest
My favorite, y'all should listen, he have potential
To outlive the heatwave I'ma send through this motherfukker
And rebuild for a whole 'nother other culture"
And that wouldn't be enough

So fukk these haters and fukk these hoes
Damn right I still mean that
:mjpls:
