nikkas making $13,000 - $25,000a year in that league. You can work at Popeyes and make that

25k for 6 months of work with the opportunity to make more if you get called up is not bad. If you are smart, you can make it work by either going to the league or going overseas. Plus where would you rather work: D-Leauge for 6 months or Popeyes for the whole year?

I found an article of the benefits that a player gets when playing with the D-League

- In addition to their base salaries, minor leaguers can earn bonuses pertaining to various accomplishments. The league's Most Valuable Player earns a maximum $3,000 bonus.

- The league's other award winners (such as Most Improved Player, D-League Impact Player, Defensive Player of the Year, the Jason Collier Sportsmanship Award recipient, and varied "All D-League" team selections) earn bonuses ranging from $1,000 to $1,500.

- In addition to respective life and health insurance benefits during the season, housing and in-season accommodations are provided, as well as a $40 per diem for meals while a player is traveling on the road with his team (players are allocated $30 during training camp).

- Players on successful teams can earn smaller bonuses ranging from $500 to $1,000 as their respective teams win a regular season conference championship, as well as win and/or make the D-League Finals.

- Early termination fees for players seeking some sort of opt-out in their contract midseason, in order to play for an international (or otherwise related) team, begin at $40,000.

- The D-League's anti-drug (marijuana and other related substances) policy is very similar to that of the NBA's, except for the fact that a minor leaguer's contract can be terminated following the third offense.

Each team has a salary cap of $173,000. 12 players per team means the average player is making $14,416 over 6 months. That's peanuts. You can get a call center job and make way more than that sitting on your ass only working 9-5 and off weekends. And zero wear & tear on your body. Not including overtime, off holidays etc.

Those 5 star prospects that didn't get drafted gotta feel some type of way. They never thought they would go from Kentucky/Kansas/Duke rock star status to making peanuts

You can't be a hooper talking like this :skip:

Add in the fact the possibility to make more going overseas etc. Also I'm sure a lot of players want to be in ball after they can't play. Alot of connections can be made.

You are right I'm not a hooper. I'm too busy making money. I agree with going overseas if the check is right

From a front office/NBA perspective, that's why they need to stay in school. To see who's good and who isn't. To see if there really is potential or not.
Guys who stay in school have that stigma though

If your good fight your way through the g league or get that international money

You have to be trolling. No way I am telling a kid that missed the draft to give up on your dream and get a call center job. Either you go to the D-League and try to make it or go overseas. Also the minimum you make in the D-League is $19,500 not $14,400.

D-League Increases Salaries For 16-17 Season

For the past couple seasons the salary structure in place for the D-League has consisted of tiers. There were three tiers of salaries: $13,000 (C), $19,000 (B) and $25,500 (A) and each team had a salary cap of $173,000 on top of that.

For the 16-17 D-League season, there will only be two tiers for salaries as the “C” has been eliminated. The new salary levels will be $19,500 (B-Level) and $26,000 (A-Level) and the salary cap will rise to $209,000.

Adam Silver and D-League commissioner Malcolm Turner have been working in conjunction to build the league to 30 teams and when that point comes, there is a belief that salaries could be tripled to remain competitive.

D-League call ups made nearly $5 million in salary last season so the chance for a payoff is present.

Wasn't aware of the increase in pay for the G league. But that's what they were making before they change to Gatorade. In the same damn article you posted it says 13 thousand minimum max 26 max before the change was made.
