Why would the Wiz gut their team to get KD when they can just sign him outright?

Yeah, there's no need. The Wiz will have the salary cap room to sign him. They just can't have Beal making more than $14.5M on the first year of his extension... they're already talking about extending him this summer.

Why would Durant leave Westbrook for Wall though. :patrice:

I fukks with Wall too, but he's no Westbrook

Its not even about leaving Westbrook. Leaving Presti who knows how to draft and keep a pipeline of young talent and depth would be the head scratcher!

I mean, Ernie Grunfeld is still making basketball decisions in DC. That's terrible. The #KD2DC smoke has been ordered to him by Leonsis to have contracts expire and for Leonsis to make his pitch to KD as he did to Michael Jordan in 1999.

And FWIW, I saw this the other day on CSN Washington:

Some folks have stated that the Wiz have been given no indication that KD would sign here (assuming he leaves OKC).

Well if you believe J Michael that's not the case. This is what I suspected all along.

Morning tip: Wizards sacrifice again for Kevin Durant

This is from the comments section:

Rajat Garg:
At what point does this pursuit of Durant actually become a detriment? This team isn't that far away from contending in the weaker Eastern conference. Yet, they have essentially placed all of their eggs in the Durant basket, so to speak. What happens if he doesn't come?? At this point, I would guess the odds aren't in the Wizards favor.

J Michael:
@Rajat You make a plan and you see it through. You don't change it every 5 minutes because of a whim. I mention the Sacramento Kings for a reason. That's what a franchise looks like when they have no direction. .... The Wizards know already that Durant has them in their top 2 destinations if he leaves OKC. No one can say anything publicly b/c it would result in a massive fine for "tampering." So you plan to land him -- and you always have a plan b, c & d in case you don't -- but the fact is you have your core of Wall, Beal, Porter & Gortat under contract when he's a FA. And you have a massive amount of cash to throw at him. ... The Wizards planned on Ariza returning, he didn't. So Pierce was their Plan B. Not a bad Plan B at all. They got him, benefited greatly from him, didn't tie themselves up long term in the process. I'd say the plan they've instituted has worked so far. There's only detriment if you set a plan of this nature in place for KD and then start spending money carelessly to handicap yourself in what you're able to offer in 2016

KD doesn't need a Westbrook. Wall is all he needs on PG duties

I think It depends on how Beal is looking over the next year. Unless he makes major improvement, I don't see the point of leaving OKC since they have a pretty good core right now

Because unicorns and fairys said so.
1. Kd would get an increase in endorsement money for " coming home".

2. The wiz play in a weaker conference.

3. Outside of wall and westbrook, the wiz have more pieces
Wiz has more pieces :usure:. Durant RIGHT behind LeBron in endorsements he's fine with that.

O City
This made me think he is staying

"I love it here, man. I love my teammates, I love the city, I don't really think about anywhere else," Durant told Revolt TV in a recent interview. "I hear it all the time, don't get me wrong, and once you hear it you're kind of like [looks up, thinking]. But for me, I love staying in the moment, and I'm one of those guys that would love to stick it out with one team my whole career.

I would love to get my jersey retired here."

The H
KD stays. He gets emotionally attached to his teammates evident by his MVP speech and even when Harden left. He was really down about that. He's going to stay. He has love for his teammates and the Thunder organization. I would put money on it tbh

Thats why its 90% chance he stays.

He isn't LeBron

The Wizards will have backup plans, like acquiring a PF in the event KD re-signs with the Sonics.
