Her husband has written some blistering pieces on Trump...but I just find it hard to believe that Conway, professional spinster that she is, Mrs. "Alternative Facts" herself, would do a complete 180° from her role and draft something like this.

My guess is it's one of the the Military/Intelligence/National Security guys, most of whom can barely hide their disdain for Trump anyway.

Probably only 4 people at the New York Times know the name, and all of them would immediately have their careers destroyed and the reputation of the newspaper take a serious hit if they leaked. Remember, a New York Times journalist went to jail rather than release a source during the Bush administration.

I would trust a major newspaper of reputation with my name long before I trusted the government or the cops with it. Journalists, defense lawyers, and priests - trust them with pretty much any secret.

Yea, but I doubt whoever wrote it will admit it. But he's the guy having the most setbacks by Trump's behavior.

Cavanaugh is going to get confirmed regardless, no way any Rethugs vote against him.

Not sure it'd make sense for them to risk the wrath of the deplorables to help confirm someone that was going to get confirmed anyway.
