What makes you so sure that Bron would do just as well with Spurs as Kawhi has done? Bron's ball-dominant style of play goes against everything the Spurs represent. I don't agree the Spurs would have the same record with Bron instead of Kawhi. And Bron has long been an vastly overrated defender.
Also there's a difference between being on pace to win 50 games and being on pace to break the record for most wins in a season. It is no coincidence at all that in seasons prior, the Spurs never even threatened to break that record yet this season, in which Kawhi has taken big steps in his development, the Spurs are up there with the Warriors trying to get that record. It's clear that Kawhi has elevated the Spurs this season.
Again, Kawhi has established himself as the best 2-way player in the game, bar none while averaging 21pts/7rebs/3asts/2stls/1blk per game while shooting 51% from the floor and 46% from downtown. And as mentioned already, he's led the Spurs to second in the much tougher Western conference while having his team on pace to break the record for most wins in a season.
Nobody has yet to provide me with logically sound reasons as to why Bron deserves that first ALL-NBA team spot over Kawhi based on this season's performance.
The question is NOT who's more important to his team. The question is who has had the better season. And I just don't see how you can't say that Kawhi hasn't had a better season than Bron.
I get that Bron has a bigger name and is more marketable, and, because of that, will most likely be named in the team. However, if we're being objective and judging this based on merit, Kawhi > Bron EASY.
