...before it should have?

Quite a few nominations.

- 2 Chainz - After the surge he had last year, this year should have been a continuation but he dropped a mediocre album which gives people the feeling he won't even get anywhere near the same attention once it's album #2 time.

- Nicki Minaj - Hip hop didn't give many fukks about her, but not only did she drop off with her second album overall in terms of sales, she made a fool of herself.

- Meek Mill - His time came, and he didn't show any improvement. He built himself up, and didn't deliver at all. Album was no different to mixtape, added nothing. You have to make an impression with your debut, he didn't.

- Waka Flocka - Album was weak and looks he is destined to be just a mixtape rapper like hundreds of his kind.

those are good choices, except now a significant portion of the continental US ages 18-30 knows who 2 chainz is. even if the album was wack (shyt wasnt even mediocre), people still gon check for that new mixtape or album

i think the rest of the list is pretty on point

I definitely think Nicki has peaked as far popularity is concerned. And i think Rick Ross has and will continue to lose a little appeal to the fans as well.

2Chainz star faded this year?

Yesterday at work, MTV2 was on the TV in the break room at my job. In between a 10-min. break in the morning and a 30-min. lunch break, I saw that nikka on 4 videos. If that's fading, then WTF was his star doin' before??

Don't agree with meek and 2chainz. A lot of younger cats fukk with Meeks album. I actually just finished listening to a few tracks on there.

And 2chainz Is a party staple!! If your party wack, just throw on birthday song.

I cast my vote for nicki. You can throw Ross on that list and maybe Wiz despite the decent albums. Just not the same guy anymore. Enough of his fans already abondoned him and won't even go near a project by him

I'm pretty certain 2Chainz has the 3/4th biggest selling albums of the year. He was also on the summer's anthem Mercy.

Meek didn't fade but he didn't grow. Same ish as the year before but he put out an album.

Ross looked like he was about to make the big cross-over jump but the album didn't have the hits.

Rocky didn't build on his momentum from '11 much either.

Pusha had a pretty stagnant year too. SAme with Krit.

Slaughterhouse faded the most. Nobody wants to hear it and now nobody will care to even check the next project.

Now Hit-Boy built on his '11 success with a few other bangers., T-Minus too. Big Sean is looking stronger.

Nicki is definitely losing steam...

Flocka is losing steam...

Meek Mill started off solid then it looks like his album was a disappointment...

I think 2Chainz & Kendrick Lamar are getting hotter though... :manny:

Definitely Nicki has faded the most. She outsold Kanye in '10 but she won't hit plat. this time. Didn't have the hip-hop community on smash liek she did in '10 and I doubt the pop crowd love her like they're meant too.

Wiz #2 but you could see it coming. Apathy from his core fans and the pop crowd didn't love it either.

BoB #3 . But you could see that coming from a mile-off. His last album had 2-3 massive hits to only go gold. He been lost his core fanbase so he was always going to catch a brick and vanish from the scene.

#4 Lupe Fiasco. In fact, he should be behind Nicki, except that he didn't chase the pop crowd. But he tried to cater for homebase, you know like how Common made Be or even The Dreamer/Believer after the experimental albums. Except, imo the album was a dud. Found it preachy & condescending in parts. Beats sounded weak too. I've come to the realisation that outside of Soundtrakk, Lupe doesn't know how to pick beats.
