I don't get it. It's as if the purest form of blackness is poverty and possibly violence. And if you're not from that you're less than. It makes me think that there is an inferiority complex at play..

Also I don't are if I'm called a c00n. If you have contributed to the destruction of your own people you're more of a c00n.

You've been sayin c00n shyt on here. You're probably not even black :heh:

Modern-day hip-hop is the #1 vehicle today that GLORIFIES the hood, poverty, etc. Hip-hop happens to be the most popular and influential artform on the planet and also the lens that lots of people view black people, both black and non-blacks. Its the #1 representor of ALL black people globally. Peep the lower right corner of this pic:

What this does is link blackness with inferiority, struggle, unintelligence, etc on a subconscious level. This not only affects how the rest of the world views black people, but more importantly how we view OURSELVES. This is why there are black kids who "hide" their intelligence in order to appear to be more "hood, street". This is why the average "square" black man is ridiculed and called lame and/or corny and the ones who perpetuate the most negative stereotypes in the media are often called "real n1kkas".

All of this stems from slavery but hip-hop continues to perpetuate the stereotype of blackness=hood/inferior in our own minds and helps to keep our own self esteem in the gutter.

Can anyone define what Blackness is in the context of modern society, not your romanticised ideas but a raw and honest definition?

Reminds me of that episode of fresh prince where carlton is refused admission in the black frat even though he did everything right cause he wasnt black enough. Bashed for being successful. Look at that other middle class thread. Nothing but Pure stupidity :why:

black folks always struggled in this country. Suffering is seen as part of the black experience.being a black man n not having any type of struggle in your resume your blackness will be on trial. being from and surviving the hood means you really lived the life of a black man in America (designed for us by whitey) and over came the traps set by them to destroy us.Its like beating a game on easy vs beating it on hard.(pause)

its some bullshyt but its is what it is.

really hood nikkas are tools of white supremacy...they love white daddy...they hate pro blackness, black upliftment and kill blacks....they're seen as the leaders...the hustlers, killers, pimps are seen as the leaders, and theyre the biggest tools of the white man....u think that nikka fat ass rick ross care about kids in the prison system? naw , as long as he gets money, p*ssy and a bowl of greasy ass chicken wings every night, hes happy....and hes the guy the kids aspire to be

you considering rick Ross "hood" proves you just on another "I hate that I'm whitewashed" spiel
