He did very well in this debate.

One reason he is hated is because he's sided with real estate in terms of developing housing. New high rise condos get built but affordable units are few and far in between. Tied to this issue is the major rise in homelessness under his administration.

Another is he's effectively turned his back on the residents of NYC Public Housing (600,000 people). The chairwoman he put in charge of the public housing agency withheld information about lead paint being in apartments. Thousands of kids suffered as a result. He refused to fire her. During January he signed a deal with the Trump Administration that prevented an independent judge from actually improving conditions for residents.

Lastly, he's always been criticized for talking the progressive talk but proceeding to go forward with standard corporatist action

So hes the perfect democrat candidate
Yep. People won't bother looking up his record either.

However, we know he is running for vp or a cabinet spot. If fortune swings in his favor, he'll go for POTUS. You can already see the ads across middle america/ the south though saying how dare an elitist from NYC think he has the answers to our ills.

NYC
Housing issues mainly. The petty squabbling between him and Cuomo that winds up creating issues over things like improving our subway system also hurts (though I tend to lean toward Cuomo being the problem in virtually every one of these cases).

Bruh homelessness been an issue well before he got into office and most of the people homeless in NYC are mentally ill..

Second all new high rises being built must have 10% of the units available for affordable and low income housing

I feel like his conflict with the police unions makes it impossible to win, which of course is the #1 thing I support about his record

Besides that he looks for all the world like a typical white moderate / neolib / whose unwilling to do the hard things when it's the right thing.

I still support him standing up to the police unions you know they be side eyeing on some "It'd be a shame if we let something happen to you" innuendo threats
