so why exactly isn't GT Dragonball canon anymore?

Don't let nostalgia get in the way.
Fights in DBZ were far, far too long.
Super cut that down real quick but still at a perfect length

Humor is far better

Also made Future Trunks great again. They basically confirmed him as possibly the best Dragonball character for me.
He tapping Future Mai's ass now unlike his sus GT counterpart

Super is best in the DB series. They brought back some of the adventure and humorous/lightheartedness from DB and the action from DBZ.

Also made friezea great again.

Awesome soundtrack

Zamasu/Goku Black were great villains

Female super sayains

Beerus and whis are great additions to the mythos

Only thing fukked up is power levels
:laff:

What does DBZ do better, no nostalgia arguments either.

Villains actually seem a threat.
There are ppl in the series completely beyond Goku and Vegeta.

Technically, they lost to Zamasu and he wiped out humanity anyway, they had to make do with a Pyrrhic victory.

Less use of Deus EX Dragonballs as plot devices.

Better fights. Some of the ones at the start were fugazi though I won't lie, lazy animators.

I prefer this soundtrack as well.

More slice of life/humor moments to slow down the pacing.

I don't think I've said this but they made Frieza great again.

Super is the superior series imo.

Frieza destroyed the earth

Beerus restored it

Deus ex machine

Zamasu destroyed the universe

God deleted him

Deus ex machina

Everything Trunks did to save his future was meaningless.

They turned Gohan into a fakkit

The transformations have been trash outside of ultra instinct which I'll admit was the best transformation since Gohan going 2.

All in all its a kids show with none of the weight or gravitas Z had. Goku out here erasing universes and it don't matter

Whis restored earth. But I'll give that one.

Zeno destroying Zamasu isn't a Deus Ex Machina. They failed to save the future, humanity was killed and the universe destroyed. The heroes lost.

Trunks doing everything he can to save the future was meaningless you are right, because they lost.

Gohan becoming a background character is a shame I agree but it's Goku's series.

Super Sayain Rosé was a cool transformation too imo.

DBZ was a kids show too. And no, DBZ had no gravitas either. The prevelance of the Dragonballs nullified that.

Seriously, how many times did Goku die and comeback in DBZ?

GT was never canon it was an anime side story, the anime isn't canon its an adaptation on the manga. Super is a continuation of the manga according to Toriyama. Super>>>>>>>>>>>>>GT in everything but animation. Super is everything GT was trying to be, a light hearted Dragonball with the stakes of Dragonball Z. They didn't even have to turn Goku into a kid to do that

Think it would've been dope if it was actually called GT Dragon Ball. Whether or not it's canon hasn't been stated by the creators, but Toriyama acknowledged that GT is a side-story, which is odd because it's actually a sequel in design, but whatever.

GT was the Home Alone 3 and all of the Three Ninja movies of Dragon Ball. The animation was hit or miss, the inconsistencies were more prevalent than some of the plot, and some of it is just outright strange to the point you can tell the creators were just trying to cash in on a dead horse.

However, it was an entertaining series. Not only did you get a realistic future of Dragon Ball, but we also got some dope storylines. The Baby arc is one of the most memorable arcs of the franchise, because like the Zamasu arc of Super it was very non-Dragon Ball. Goku's conflict with Baby was pretty well done. The Super Saiyan 4 transformation took the role of the real Legendary Super Saiyan in many fans minds for decades. Not to mention the ending was arguably the best wrap ups the series could've gotten.

Oh, and the Japanese OST for GT is heavenly. Akihito Tokunaga's score beats Shunsuke Kikuchi's out by a hair, and arguably even Super's OST too.
