So why is getting called "papi" acceptable, but "daddy" isn't?

Because papi is a foreign language. I grew up around alot of Ricans and they always call any dudes that they familiar with papi. So I never looked at it as meaning daddy. I just knew whenever they started calling you papi, you was either mad cool or you was close to smashin. As a native English speaker there was no other way for me to perceive daddy as anything other than someones pops
