The game done changed.

it used to be like:

Media Buzz for Album
Single to build interest in album
Album drops = Sales
Promo tour for album
Second Single = Sales
Controversy = Sales.
Third single = Sales,
Movie Soundtracks, etc.

But nobody buys albums anymore like that, and the labels are scared shytless. Cant push an artist if they don't recoup. And everybody that's gonna buy your album is gonna buy it within that first month, unless that artist gets spread by word of mouth.

So no real multi-social media push for music means we don't see a bunch of singles on tv and the radio, maybe for the first month.

"Dat album came and went."

Think about it. Remeber the time where an artist would drop, they'd have their singles they'd be all over everybody elses albums. Folks would go out and buy hard copies. They'd be in your face for 4 to 6 months. 10 mil sold.

Now, everybody got your shyt the day it dropped, legally or illegally. It's been reviewed 500 times. Your core base bought it. Singles? What singles?

Record labels now really just wanna push albums out as fast as possible and get the artist on tour to skim some kind of profit.

The game done changed.

Yeah, the internet won't let people be gullible when it comes to music anymore.

Before, An artist would have these great to good singles, followed by maybe a trash one.

Folks would buy the album.

They'd also show up on OTHER artists great to good singles.

Folks would be like " :gladbron: this cat on fire right now! I bet his album is the shyt!" and theyd go buy the album.

Folks would see the sales figures of the album and swear it must be good cause it's selling.... and go buy the album.

God forbid you're talking shyt about on ex or nother artist on your alum, folks would buy it just to hear what you're saying.

:francis: but now?

Your album leaked and it's 500 nikkas in a stickied thread talking about how trash your album is?

:mjlol: dont nobody wanna hear that shyt....

OP stick to posting white girl threads. I'm not a Stan of any of these artists mentioned but people are playing these artists music :comeon:
Just because you don't listen to it doesn't mean other people aren't. Everything isn't coming and going like you think it is :rudy:

I'ma keep it all the way real with you Stomach, all the best music these days comes out on mixtapes.

fukk a retail release. Commercialization ruined it for all of us. Labels are deciding how to best structure an album that can be a soundtrack to corporate commercials, sports leagues and white people.

Real Hip-Hop exists in the mixtape circuit.

Albums are dead

We were forced before to buy a whole album and listen to it from beginning to end even tho most of it was trash and only bought it because we liked one single...

Now with the new technology we can listen to the songs we like from all the artists we like from a playlist we created on our phone

People listen to a new album once or twice nowadays, pick the 3 or 4 songs they like from it and add them to a playlist... Thats it

So yeah, albums are dead... If i was an artists, id just be interested in puttin out singles that chart or make buzz with my core fanbase, tour and live off it... Come on now
