my prob with dame is that he does too damn much and has his hands in damn near everything. every time i see the dude hes promoting some new venture thats slated to be a game changer. losiadas, socks, cookies, oil, IBM - intelligent boss moves.
what happened to dd172 and creative control? dd172 was such a dope idea. he had the gallery, loft, studio and venue space. then turned plugging into the downtown scene into a media/marketing company. it was all really dope shyt.
he is always constantly getting things off the ground instead of sticking with one or two things that can be really dope and grinding that out. DD172 could have done a lot for NYC. dame says its kinda still around but i havent heard shyt about it since they lost the original space in tribeca.
but the blackroc, dd172, creative control shyt which could have re-invented him and given him a second life gets eclipsed by whatever new venture he thinks up the next day. reality tv, underwhelming (music) artists he dumps money into, the half-assed web series, a ton of half assed clothing lines, now...liqour?
i always "feel" for dame because i have a close friend exactly like him: born and raised in (east) harlem, overly aggressive "genius" , super grinder who can talk circles around the best bullshytter on the planet, can convince anyone to give him bread for his ideas. but he is either gonna be wild successful, or burn out hard and leave a wake of bodies and failed businesses behind him. ive already seen him sink 3 businesses and go through 2 big lawsuits and he isnt even 30 yet. he reminds me of dame so much id think they were related if my friend wasnt white
