You can now create social groups. Click the Groups link in the nav bar and create your groups.
Unfortunately the import of old data did not go through
...i tried 
New groups should be a bit better, supports alerts and everything. There's still a few areas that aren't quite mobile friendly but that will be fixed eventually.
