Craving the streets approval is nothing new. It's half the reason the biggest rapper is the biggest rapper. Specifically for Bow Wow, the clean image is a part of his youth, which he wants to shed.

For rappers in general, the street and the turn up records are closely related if not single records serving a double function. So street records/appeal = demand for shows at these (strip) clubs.

I was telling my cousin and the producer in the lab a couple weeks ago...the landscape of rap now = the Chitlin Circuit in the 20's. Artists aren't selling records no more but they can get 20k a show, 2-3x a week to perform for half an hour tops and the other 3 hours on their champagne campaign to smash the IG models/strippers. It creates cloning and saturation but it's a cash grab and chance at a "rich nikka" lifestyle.
