I loved the OG version but The spike lee version was pretty good.

People who shyt on it are just ignorant and trying to appear cultured.

It wasn't even about the sex scene. The movie had a different feel to it. The OG felt more real and they did a much better job building up the characters. The twist in the original version was done differently too.

That's the pinnacle of Asian filmography versus American. they have less standards

It was spikes version of a comicbook movie, there were mad fightscenes and shyt (he got his tim burton on), during the warehouse fight hes just taking on wave after wave of bad guys like a batman movie @ the black guy busting in wielding 2 katanas.

Alright brehs, I watched both versions, and I have to say Oldboy (Korean version) is much better because it is more gritty and dirty looking. Them Korean nikkas don't play around.

Oldboy (the american version) was pretty good on its own. I really don't understand the low rating it is getting on rottentomatoes.
Hated the ending though.

apparently the studio demanded that he cut 30 minutes out of the final film... both spike and brolin agreed that the directors cut was the much better version

shyt 30 mins is a long time to build up extra stuff or go into topics deeper

there's so many movies that got fukked up by the studio in the same fashion. i don't see why they can't just always release a director's cut... they already shot, edited, and put it in the damn movie before you cut it out.. i know they just didn't delete all the film and copies

OG is classic and Spike Lee's is a pretty damn good movie. See nothing wrong with it.

The first is a masterpiece and part of a masterpiece revenge trilogy. The other two are Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. The Spike Lee one was trash and not because I want to seem cultured, it was trash period. He connected all types of ridiculous dots that didn't make sense. The crime show was fukkin retarded, his stint in prison was poorly portrayed and was terrible character development, his return to the prison was way over the top and not nearly as convincing as the original. The ending was not nearly as hard hitting or thought provoking. The acting didn't compare. There was so much more wrong with it. It was an inferior and unnecessary remake. Spike has made some of my favorite films, though.

Rottentomatoes sounds like a website invented by a person who is pigmently challenged
So, on this types of sites. Movies directed by people who have melanin up the wazoo, usually get low scores
Check ANY Spike Lee movie on there and you'll see what I'm talking about

So this is how it goes

Asian = Japanese, Chinese, Korean

Spanish = Spaniards & Latino's

White = All Cac's plus some really light skinned Spanish ppl

Black = Self Explanatory, even tho black latino's sometimes be confused on there ancestry

So yeah, the Japanese version = Chinese version = Korean version
I didn't purposely put Japanese. I think I say Japanese by default these days
