So being the #1 pick wasn't enough pressure to make him become a better 3pt shooter than Serge Ibaka?
I'm sure this was already covered before, but I'll do it again for you. John Wall doesn't shoot 3pters like that.
He struggled shooting period his rookie season, it got real bad. He couldn't hit a mid range J let alone a 3 because of confidence
His 2nd year he improved on everthing, but his J was still funny
He was injured half of last year, so total he has like 2yrs experience in this league. I'm not right now, but you can look up how many 3's he's taken in his career
Its extremely low. 24% is 1 out of every 4 3pters taken which isn't the end of the world. Especially if you had a streak where you missed double digits in a row
Since he got his confidence up, he's making game winning jumpers, and was decent last year from the 3 even tho he shot like 12 all year
Trust me when I say this, I'm the biggest Wizards fan around. I didn't like John Wall from his personality when we drafted him.. I wanted the other dude Philly drafted and I wanted to continue riding with Hibachi :manny:
I saw how bad Wall shot, watched his confidence drop in a way I never seen from an NBA player before. Real Talk. So I fully understand the doubts
But I seen his growth, and I can tell you I'm not worried about none of the shyt you talking about. Seriously. You say 24% like its a badge of honor for you or something?
Fans of the Wizards KNOW he's better than the stats you keep quoting, and so do most basketball purist in the world/media included. We straight :win:

he's talking about the total value of the contract.

and they got nerve to name those fancy ass calculators after your state :smh:

dude still makes a good point, Wall's contract is a year longer than Currys so you still aint really compare the total value numbers.

With that said this thread sucks. It just means Steph Curry is being heavily underpaid.

And what you guys also fail to point out is who the hell else would the Wizards have paid? We arent getting any marquee free agents w/o John Wall, and/or if the rest of the draft picks dont produce. So then what? let Wall walk, tank and pray that Stern shows us mercy and gives a #1 draft pick?

You let Wall get a Qualifying Offer as a restricted free agent then match it. What if the Bucks went and overpaid Jennings last summer? What if the Wolves overpaid Pek before he hit the market? You wait and see if he gets an offer you're willing to match, worse case is you have to max him out by matching an offer, best case is you get the player for less than the max.

But my issue with this is, you dont do all this dancing around for someone you believe to be your GUY. At no point do I think Jennigs and/or Oek proved that on their respective teams. Wall >>>>>> both those players on potential alone. Fine Wall cant shoot the three but neither can Wade and when its all said and done he'll go down as top 5 SG of all time shyt maybe even 3rd after kobe and mj.

When John Wall came back, the Wizards made a complete 180 and thats with Beal being hurt for a significant stretch of our last games. Now we've added a number 3 draft pick and he has even more help.

The last 25 games Wall played like a mmax player. I don't think that's enough of a sample sjize to get that contract but we'll see. If he plays on that level for a whole season its worth it :manny:

Look what Lin got after like 5 games. And John Wall wasnt some undrafted, dleague, tryout, lucky to make the team type player. He was a number 1 draft pick who although hasnt lived fully to his potential has shown many flashes of what he can be. Also has career avgs of 17ppg and 8asst ppg while his second best player for a majority of his career was andray blatche :scusthov:, yea he can work on his fg% (42 which isnt even as abysmal as yall hyping it to be) and it's largely dragged down by his 3pt%. You take that into account, plus what he did in the last 25 games (imo is a large sample size cause he only played in 49 last year), plus his potential and there's nothing that says he isnt worth 5 years 80million.

:laff: horrible example. Jennings is now NOT in Milwaukee and the team's without a player to build around, and Pek as of now STILL hasn't been signed (and Pek's not the player Minny's building around, so why even bother comparing Wall to him?) Hell, the only reason why Pek didn't already have a contract is because they couldn't negotiate with him ahead of time per league rules because he was a 2nd rounder.

Here's a good question: name the player whose team is being built around DIDN'T get a huge deal prior to RFA status.

EDIT: the closest example to this is probably Marc Gasol, and at the time, you couldn't even say they were building around him specifically.
