He who funds you, controls you. Hyper-masculinity is promoted in rap, it was possibly introduced when the record companies came in.
The dont really get mainstream rappers (current and past) who speak out on the industry. Whistleblowers like mega, face, griff etc never made it into the pop music crossover bracket.
